Clare’s culinary scene is about to welcome a fresh new addition, with the much-anticipated Antidote Wine Bar opening its doors on June 12th. Designed as a relaxed yet refined space, this new wine bar experience is the newest addition to Antidote Kitchen and embraces the thoughtful design, menus, and eclectic array of drinks and fusion-inspired bites that Antidote is already known for.
Housed within one of Clare’s oldest commercial buildings, a Chaff Mill, it features original stone walls, lofty ceilings, and an original safe still bearing its manufacture year of 1849.

Even though the venue evokes the charm of yesteryear, co-owners Sunny Mehrok and Rupesh Agrawal wanted ornate modern design touches too.
Mr Mehrok explains that the level of planning and detail for the new venture was both personal and intentional.
“Everything we put together, we put so much love into… I did the polishing of the floor myself. For the lighting, I wanted a very special Japanese lighting, so I sourced it from Japan. The couches were custom-made. We wanted furniture to be soft and comfortable, with contemporary touches, all housed in one of the oldest commercial buildings in Clare.”
The result is a cosy, inviting atmosphere that feels both elegant and comfortable. This is a setting that encourages guests to settle in and stay a while.
“It’s about creating a place where people can relax, connect and enjoy drinks in a beautiful environment.”

At its core, Antidote Wine Bar will offer a relaxed take on wine tasting. Guests can sample their own Antidote wines, as well as a broader selection, without needing to travel between cellar doors. It will be a go-to for a flexible experience, whether you’re popping in for a swift tasting or lingering longer with company, over a bottle.
The drinks list spans Australian and international gins, cocktails and casual favourites like mimosas. The focus is on choice and approachability, making it just as suitable for an afternoon unwind as a pre-dinner drink.
Antidote’s signature Indian-inspired fusion food is on the menu, delivering bold, dynamic dishes alongside smaller plates ideal for sharing. It’s a menu designed to complement the drinks while offering something a little different to other fare in the region.

Initially, the wine bar will open during the day, giving locals and visitors a new way to enjoy Clare at a more languid pace. However, plans are underway to move into evening trade in around one month, filling a gap in the local scene for late-night drinks and small plates.
With its blend of local history, fresh design and relaxed hospitality, Antidote Wine Bar is a place where every detail has been thoughtfully considered, and every visit is sure to be both memorable and delicious.
