Popular Croydon restaurant, Billy’s Table is setting the table for its next chapter, refining everything from the menu to the atmosphere, as it relaunches as Billy’s Pizza & Pasta Bar.

After planning for months, owner Billy Petropoulos has transformed his restaurant into Billy’s Pizza & Pasta Bar in a seven-day turnaround. While the name has changed, diners can still expect the same quality food now paired with a fresh new look that’s doubling down on nostalgia and old-school Italian charm.

“It’s always good to have a change,” said Billy.

“I wanted it to feel like you’re going to Nonna’s house … so I’ve got the green and white tablecloth with the plastic on top.

“When I pulled out the plates my chef goes, ‘that’s exactly what I had as a kid.'”

As you step into Billy’s Pizza & Pasta Bar, prepare your senses to enter the 70s. Classic records spin in the background, the aroma of freshly made pizzas and pasta fills the room and vintage touches transport diners straight to an Italian family home.

After eight years as Billy’s Table and more than two decades in hospitality, Billy said it was the right time to refine the restaurant’s identity and focus on what it does best. He said the menu is a collection of all the best dishes over the years, with a renewed focus on their 48-hour fermented sourdough pizzas and handmade pastas.

“It’s like having a cookbook of the best of the best and putting together … all our classics from over the years.”

Billy says he designed the restaurant with the Croydon community in mind: the furniture, finishes and styling pay homage to the eclectic and artistic character of Queen Street.

“The atmosphere and the feel of it is paying homage to the street.”

The refreshed concept also gives locals another reason to head out after dark, whether it’s dinner before a night out or drinks after a show at the Entertainment Centre. But as part of their refinement, Billy is saying a bittersweet goodbye to serving breakfast after 25 years. With a renewed focus on dinner, sure favourite meals of the rebrand will be their creamy and slow-cooked duck and mushroom risotto and 350gm Wagyu parmigiana.

“We’re just refining who we are and we’re creating something beautiful.”
