If you’ve found yourself strolling down Jetty Road in Brighton this summer, there’s a chance the blues, browns and greens of Doozy Deli caught your eye. First opening on Christmas Day, then continuing renovations into early January before an official opening, Doozy Deli is the latest addition to the strip – and they’re definitely not a doozy.
This is the first solo venture from owner Jess Mann, who, after a decade in the hospitality industry, thought it was the perfect time to go out on her own. Not only did she start this all on her own, but she undertook all the renovations herself, too.

“I’m honestly so proud of what we were able to achieve,” said Jess. “We did a lot in a very short space of time to be able to open for the first time on Christmas morning, which was the best way to say hello to the community and let everyone have a first look.
“Then we finished a few touch-ups the week after, closed for a week again, and reopened on the 5th of January. It’s been really good. It’s nice to say we created such a welcoming, cute space and to see everyone enjoying it.”
Jess worked with her friends to redo the space. They added in much more seating, making it ideal for people wanting to sit and chat over a quick coffee or matcha, or to grab a sando and take it down to the beach.

Jess says the sandos and jaffles have been super popular. “We started with a really small menu because we wanted to focus on quality, not quantity. We had just the sandos, three jaffles, and a really enjoyable grab-and-go experience.
“We’ve since started adding to the brekkie menu to give more options for the morning crowd, but we’re still really leaning into that grab-and-go style. The sandos are definitely the standout.”
The chicken salad sando is Jess’s favourite. “We’ve created our own special chicken mix with fresh cucumber and lettuce. It’s really fresh, really filling, and quite big,” she shared. As for crowd favourites, Jess says the Italian sando and the Cheeseburger Jaffle take the cake. For $18, the Italian features soppressa, prosciutto, fior di latte, fresh tomato, basil, rocket, housemade romesco and chilli honey, and the $14 Cheeseburger Jaffle has pastrami, doozy special sauce, burger cheese and pickles.
Doozy Deli has been pushing the boat out on drinks too, with a signature iced latte with sweet and salty pistachio cold foam and a canned strawberry matcha being the most popular. The canned drinks have been especially popular as the Doozy team works more and more with other local businesses.
“We have a canning machine, again leaning into that grab-and-go idea. It’s great for throwing in your bag. We rotate specials through that as well.
“We’ve also started doing pop-up events and collaborations with local run clubs. We did one last Saturday, where we took big ice buckets down to the beachfront with canned coffees, iced lattes, and matchas. Everyone came down post-run, grabbed a coffee, hung out, and we had music going, it was great.”

Jess is big on community, so getting out there with events like this is something she’d like to do more. “Our mission at Doozy from day one has been to build a strong community. We’re really trying to delve into doing collaborations and community-based events. Our run club event that just passed really was just a taste of what’s to come. Immaculate vibes and delicious coffee!”
With its laid-back beachside vibe, quality-first menu and growing calendar of local collaborations, Doozy Deli is quickly becoming more than just a stop for coffee. So if you’re looking for a new brunch or lunch spot, check out Doozy Deli at 2/49 Jetty Rd, Brighton.
