Chances are you have found yourself winding up on Vardon Avenue on a Saturday night. City-based main-stay of the Adelaide bar-scene is extremely popular. And for good reason. Their selection of winey goodness is unmatched.
In exciting news for wine enthusiasts, the beloved wine bar is branching out of its title location, with the venue opening a second location in the Norwood Green development on Magill Road.

The collaboration between owners Michael and Margie Andrewartha, Mathieu Smeysters and Andrew Nunn, who also co-own East End Cellars’ neighbour Mothervine, sees a broader focus on the dining experience.
With two-hour seatings and table service, General Manager and Owner Mathieu Smeysters says the food offerings will be an expansion on their two city establishments.

“We’ve invested heavily in a state-of-the-art kitchen allowing us to provide a large and diverse offering,” says Mathieu.
“From sandwiches to shared platters, large dishes and desserts, the intention is to make our Norwood venue as much of a dining and night out destination as a wine destination.”
With a top-notch kitchen, the venue is ready to serve a variety of dishes, from sandwiches to shared platters and desserts. The idea is to make East End Cellars Norwood a place where people can enjoy a night out, whether they are there for the wine or the dining experience.

Josh Lansley, the Executive Chef, is bringing his experience and passion for quality ingredients to the table, offering a menu that’s diverse but approachable. Whether you are in the mood for some focaccia, steak frites, or a roasted Boston Bay porchetta, there’s something for everyone.
With classical French training under his belt as well as stints at Osteria Oggi and Press Food & Wine, Josh says focusing on quality produce has been at the heart of eclectic choices as Executive Chef for East End Cellars Vardon Avenue for over three years.
“My aim is to showcase quality ingredients, whether domestic or international,” says Josh. “Our team likes the term ‘bistronomy’ – approachable bistro food; not overly complicated but delicious and made well.”

Guests will be prompted to enjoy a drink or tasting at a communal table within the indoor space. The primary dining setting will be outdoors, accompanied by a rotation of jazz, 1960s tunes, and alternative playlists, with reservations strongly encouraged for those desiring a meal.
The venue will continue East End Cellars’ legacy in wine education and will host a myriad of wine tastings, dinners, and special events, catering to those who prefer an intimate, small group environment with its 14 seats for bespoke wine tastings and special events. It will also be South Australia’s first Krug Champagne Embassy, offering Krug by the glass at all times, a feature owner Michael Andrewartha is particularly proud of.
“As well as hosting a list of exceptional and rare bottles in our collections, we’re incredibly proud of representing the best prestige Champagne house,” says Michael. “We’ll have Krug by the glass available at all times.”
“East End Cellars Norwood will combine the traditional with the contemporary, and the modern, not only in terms of cuisine but also in relation to wine styles and trends. We want to make it a meeting place for people that love food and wine.”
