FIRST LOOK: Fitness & flavour flourish at new health food café, Heat

Heat, which resides inside the new gym PLATFRM, is now dishing up a variety of health foods for gym goers and the general public.

From the hottest hospitality minds that brought you Two Pot Screamer, Super Bueno and Joe’s Henley Beach comes Heat – the newest café to hit North Adelaide’s Melbourne Street.

Heat – which resides within the newly opened HIIT/Pilates gym, PLATFRM – promises to be a “health haven”, complementing and implementing PLATFRM’s philosophy of “Build a Better You”.

Owned and operated by Penny Hospitality, Heat dishes up a variety of health foods, smoothies, and juices for gym goers and the general public, perfect for a post-workout refuel or rest-day brunch date.

“Penny’s is growing really quickly, and we’ve had some really exciting opportunities come up,” says Penny Hospitality Managing Director, Hugo Pedler.

“When something like this comes up – providing an opportunity to collaborate with James in a place like Melbourne Street – it’s difficult to say no.

“We’ve got 10 venues now, and one of our big drivers is keeping each venue unique,” continued Hugo. “The food offering is also extremely special, serving almost restaurant-quality breakfasts. We’ve gathered a lot of learnings from our fine dining restaurants, so the dishes are beautifully presented using local quality ingredients.”

Every inch of the intimate 60-seat venue has been thoughtfully optimised by the Penny interior design team. With dark neutral tones and a crisp, minimalist design, the restaurant-style space brings a contemporary look to the growing vibrancy of Melbourne Street.

Heat’s brunch-style menu is packed with Aussie favourites and curated to emphasise locally sourced, nutrient-packed ingredients.

The essence of Heat’s brunch menu can be encapsulated by its delicious maple roasted house granola, served with coconut yogurt, avocado pannacotta, topped with hazelnuts and cacao, and drizzled with blue gum honey.

Other items you can dive into include their chilli chicken omelette – paired with pickled salad, bean shoots, and a Nam Jim Thai dressing – or perhaps the eggplant, provolone and basil fritters with smashed avocado and poached eggs!

For the simpler eaters, bagels and bacon & egg rolls are up for grabs, including a wide assortment of light Goodie, Goodie meals to take away. These include salads, wraps and sandos available all day every day.

“We’re trying to do something special here. The all-day breakfast and lunch menu has been a hit, and we’ve integrated Goodie, Goodie – Penny’s takeaway shop that’ll provide fast takeaway options on top of Heat’s premium offering,” says Hugo.

Brunch goers can also crush their caffeine cravings with various coffee bean blends provided by beloved local, Octeine Coffee. Octeine is a local South Australia’s roaster showcasing the best SA coffee.
