Where the iconic Spatz Café once stood on King William Road in Hyde Park now exists an unparalleled hair salon experience.
After a year of renovations, Fon Salon has now moved into their chic and sophisticated new space, where heritage and luxury blend.
The transition from Spats Café to Fon Salon was driven by a clear vision to honour the café’s legacy, while introducing a fresh, contemporary twist. The owners of Fon Salon were committed to maintaining the building’s historic 1800s stone walls, combining them with modern design elements. The blend of classic architecture with the modern take on hairstyling only highlights the team’s commitment and expertise in the industry.
At Fon Salon, clients are greeted with unique features designed to enhance their hairdressing experience. With warm lavender towels, a carefully curated selection of wine and gins, and the fan-favourite WFS (Work From the Salon) station, clients are now provided with a one of a kind experience where productivity is encouraged and pampering is a must.
Continuing to highlight the importance of inclusivity and equality, Fon Salon remains committed to offering a gender-neutral pricing menu, ensuring that everyone enjoys the same outstanding service at the same price. Further enhancing comfort, the team also provide clients the option of having a silent appointment or engaging in a chat.
During the renovations, the team was determined to honour this past by preserving the buildings historic charm, while incorporating elements of European style and luxury services. Inspired by a trip to Berlin, Owner Alex noticed that Adelaide lacked a luxury salon experience, leading to the establishing Fon:
“I liked the way things were done overseas, it opened my mind to new ways of thinking. I wanted something different for Adelaide that was unique…” Alex says.

In addition to the salon, Fon Salon also has a 94-square-meter shop and office space available for rent, providing further opportunities for businesses to be part of this brand-new historic location.
