Higher Vision Spirits Bar, is the newest late-night arrival to Hindley Street, and one of the venues aiming to revive Adelaide’s nightlife scene.
The venue opened with a bang on New Year’s Eve, with drinks flowing and free entry for all late night party-goers.
“It’s been great, we have been met with some excellent feedback on the bar, our drinks and friendly staff,” said Chad Oldfield, owner and founder of Higher Vision Spirits.
The venue is an extension of Higher Vision Spirits, a tools-down, distillery at Roxby Downs, that flies in the face of tradition to create down-to-earth, easy-going drinks. After working across regional areas for years, the move to Hindley Street marks a new purpose shift and higher visibility.
The distillery’s spirits span from bourbon and whisky to gin, rum and vodka. The ready-to-drink range is fast becoming popular in the bar, with names like round the twist, fruity punch and raspberry lemonade making an appearance.
“The feedback has been great so far,” he said. “A space where you can really be yourself, and kind of choose your own adventure.”
Choosing your own adventure is made even easier by the venue’s changing nightly vibe, meaning there’s unlikely to be a dull moment. Wednesdays are for gin lovers, with Gin Night showcasing Higher Vision’s own range of gins. With cocktails priced at $15, it’s bound to be a popular midweek outing.
Thursday is the true Aussie worker, knock off night, bringing all of the best higher vision drinks to you at just $10 a pop. Last but not least are Friday and Saturday, arguably the favourite nights of the whole week, where all the party vibes and a mix of drink specials come out to boogie.

The venue has taken over the former Strats site on Hindley Street, with no attempt to trade on nostalgia beyond one cheeky nod to the building’s past, a cocktail on the menu called Ex on the Strip.
Living up to its name, the venue features bold, bright colours throughout the space, making it hard to miss. “The space is so adaptable and roomy that people can go from catching up with mates over a cocktail on the lounge to having a dance near the DJ booth,” Chad noted.
But they’re not quite finished working and delivering an Insta-worthy venue meant for posting. “We are excited about the extra design work that we are putting together for some of the empty walls.”
“Like any newly open place, we needed to iron out some issues and pivot at times, but we now we wouldn’t be able to fix these issues until we were open.”
On January 22, the venue will host their first live band, Day Drive, for knock off night. “We really look forward to building a reputation for a new and amazing music venue on Hindley with unbeatable drink specials.” So far, a range of DJs have already taken to the decks, with the rest of the year’s music schedule currently in the works.
What drinks are people loving the most so far? “Our ready-to-drink range, of course,” Chad said.
