Go’Go Japanese opened its doors ahead of winter with the promise of a simple, yet effective menu built on quality and authenticity. The Flinders Street venue welcomed a rush of clientele and a flood of impressive online reviews.
But it has one very unique feature that’s been drawing a crowd all on its own. A robot waiter which zooms through the restaurant and delivers steaming hot bowls of ramen straight to your table. It’s service with a digital smile.
“We try and use the robot waiter as much as possible,” a staff member said. “It’s really unique and always makes people smile.”

It’s the kind of high-tech service you’d expect in Tokyo. And just like the service, the menu is authentically Japanese too, from a team of Japanese chefs with a drive to deliver a small selection of high quality, umami-packed meals, each one dialled in to perfection.
But the most popular is a true staple, it’s the tonkotsu ramen. This standout dish is made by slowly boiling pork bones to create a rich, creamy broth packed with umami and natural sweetness. Go’Go pairs it with house-made noodles for a bold, silky soup that has made it to peak-popularity in the venue.
A new spin on the menu, however, is the restaurant’s vegetarian ramen. With a sesame base broth, and packed with crispy, silky vegetables, this dish even gets ordered by non-vegetarians.
“Vegetarian diets are very common here, but not as much in Japan,” a staff member said. “So it’s been great to bring a spin of the traditional recipe to Adelaide.”

As you walk through the big red front door, you’ll notice the high ceilings, grand wooden floors, and atriking rectangular arches. Go’Go has found a beautiful space in their Flinders Street home. Decorated tastefully with Japanese décor and lantern-like lighting fixtures, it’s a charming airy spot fit for a big lunch or a casual dinner out. Even the name, Go’Go Japanese, reflects the vibe, upbeat, welcoming, and all about making everyone feel at home.
Go’Go’s head chef brings serious cred to the kitchen. He once ran his own restaurant in Nagoya and earned a spot among Japan’s Top 100 on Tabelog. That experience comes through in every bowl, from the melt-in-your-mouth chashu to perfectly seasoned eggs and springy, house-made noodles.

It’s a casual ramen spot, packed with a bit of fun, from the robot waiter to the light interior. And for $23 for a generous bowl of authentic ramen, you’ll get a feast without breaking the bank. Now it’s open, Go’Go Japanese is definitely a spot worth checking out. If you’re after a casual weeknight date, a lively weekend outing, or a midday ramen feast, head over to Flinders Street.
