Grounded Cru is officially opening the doors to its brand-new cellar door this week on Thursday November 21st. The stunning new space, which includes a cellar door, function space, and expansive lawn, will bring a fresh, premium wine experience to McLaren Flat.
At the new cellar door, guests will have the chance to explore Grounded Cru’s full wine list, featuring 15 wines, predominantly sourced from McLaren Vale reds, alongside a selection from the Adelaide Hills. For those looking for something a little different, the winery will also be serving their Grenache Gin, along with a variety of local premium beers and soft drinks for children.
“We’re trying to create a family friendly environment, as well as a premium tasting experience at the cellar door,” Winemaker Matt Jackman says.
While food isn’t the main focus at the moment, Grounded Cru will be offering two different sizes of grazing platters that compliment their wines perfectly.
“We do plan to pencil in local food trucks on certain days, and I guess it’s a bit of a prompt to keep an eye out on socials for details regarding that,” Matt says.
In terms of the setting, the cellar door features both indoor and outdoor spaces, designed with a modern yet comfortable vibe. Although the renovated cellar door itself is in an existing building, Grounded Cru has infused the space with a contemporary but rustic aesthetic, with stylish furnishings and a relaxed atmosphere that fits perfectly with the beauty of the surrounding landscape.
Grounded Cru’s wines have already made a significant impact in SA’s top restaurant and bar scene. Their signature bottles are featured at popular venues such as Golden Boy, Africola, and Pastel Wine Bar, where they are expertly paired with some of the finest dishes the state has to offer.
Although Grounded Cru is a relatively young winery, Founder Geoff Thompson and winemaker Matt Jackman bring decades of winemaking experience to the table. With their expertise and passion for quality winemaking, every bottle is made with precision and care.
