Burrowed within the suburban streets of Panorama lies Hark Coffee Roasters’ latest venture, a warehouse stacked with ‘euphoric brews’ for the true coffee lovers of Adelaide.

Hark has garnered a devoted following for its meticulously crafted dark-roast coffee since the business began in 2018. Now, with their latest roastery and espresso bar, owners McKay and Engela aim to elevate the coffee experience to new heights.

“It’s been great getting to know the locals, and we’ve been blown away by the support of the community. We also have a few regulars from our Hark store in Malvern who are now coming to our Panorama site, so we’re getting a lot of familiar faces too which we love,” McKay says.

The setting for this suburban sanctuary is a spacious warehouse, bathed in natural light—a contrast to the urban hustle of their original Malvern location. You enter through the rolled-up garage door, where a long bar counter welcomes you, with sweet pastries and goodies atop, while merch hangs along the side wall.

“We actually wouldn’t have gotten this site if it wasn’t for a Hark customer. She lives nearby and had noticed that the tenants were in the process of moving out of the building. She messaged us on instagram asking us if we’d be interested in moving into the space so she could get good coffee in her suburb,” McKay says.

“We checked it out, and we immediately saw its potential and just fell in love with it. Everything just aligned. So here we are. I think she was a little surprised it actually happened.”

It’s at the new venue that people are invited to witness the magic of air-roasted coffee, made possible by Hark’s proprietary roasting technology.

Behind a massive glass wall, the roastery hums with activity, offering visitors a front-row seat to the art of coffee roasting (Also make sure you look out for Pilot, the owner’s beloved groodle and unofficial Hark mascot).

At the heart of its Panorama outpost lies a dedication to exploration and innovation. A dedicated pour-over bench allows patrons to sample an array of high-end filter coffees, while a brew bar stands ready to concoct personalised blends for the adventurous caffeine lovers.

Hark’s small food menu boasts a rotating selection of sweet and savory treats, from flaky pastries to hearty bacon and egg rolls.

The Panorama roastery also serves as a hub for industry events, seminars, and home coffee training sessions—a testament to McKay and Engela’s commitment to fostering community and education.

If you find yourself outside of Panorama and craving a taste of Hark Coffee, fear not, for their brews can be found on menus of several esteemed cafes across South Australia.

Venture into Hawthorn, and you might stumble upon The Other Ostrich, a relatively new addition to the coffee scene, or in Glenelg and pay a visit to Dante’s Deli.
