One of Adelaide’s favourite grab-and-go spots has opened its sixth location, ready to bring premium lunches, breakfasts, and top notch coffee to the north.
“Hello Sarnie started in 2015 with our inaugural store on Pirie St,” shared Co-Founder and Director Andrew Pearce.
“We’ve continued to grow our CBD stores to five in the city, first Pirie St, Gawler Place was next, then Waymouth, SAHMRI, and then we opened Currie St in September last year. This is our first store outside of the CBD out at Elizabeth Vale in the Playford Health Hub.”
Hello Sarnie is bringing British vibes down under with their sarnies, influenced by Andrew and Mike’s English roots.

“I’m originally from the UK, same as Mike, where premium grab-and-go food is a common style of service. This style is very popular and on every street corner of London.
“We saw a niche in the market in Adelaide and Australia-wide where there wasn’t a brand or offering like Hello Sarnie, providing freshly made, premium grab-and-go breakfast and lunch.
“We’re really servicing those time-poor white-collar workers and now those medical staff and admin staff in those medical precincts such as in Playford and Lyell McEwin Hospital.”
The new store will be a slight switch in style for the brand, specifically targeting the market it will be servicing.
“The Playford Health Hub is our biggest store, we’ve realised that people actually like that time away from their desk, their 9 to 5 or 7 to 3 surroundings, so although we offer time as in speed of service and quality, people want to get out and have that break away from their work.
“The Playford store is much larger with lots of sit-down options. It’s also the first store with our new branding. Much more of an English twist to the brand, we’ve got the bowler hat brought in, and a lot of English-style words used throughout the brand. That’s been highlighted in the shop fit-out as well, which pays homage to our British heritage and the home of the Sandwich.”
On the menu, you’ll find all the favourites you’ve come to know and love from their CBD stores. But, if you’re unsure what to go for, Andrew always recommends the Salted Beef Sandwich.
“My favourite, and it’s been on the menu since we opened, is the Salted Beef Sandwich. It’s on a dark rye bread, with sliced salted beef, pickles, a nice generous amount of mustard, and finished off with a slice of cheddar cheese.”
Andrew says that aside from being his favourite, the Salted Beef Sandwich is one of the most popular.
“That is one of the most popular, but the chicken avocado sandwich is always popular, anything with chicken goes really, really well. We’ve got a chicken, avocado, cranberry, and toasted walnut salad that’s been on the menu since day one, that’s really popular as well.
“The grab-an-go style is prevalent in our breakfast offering as well, the cheese and tomato croissants go really well, but bagels are very, popular.”

With its expansion into the Playford Health Hub, Hello Sarnie continues to grow organically within South Australia while catering to a new audience of medical professionals and local workers. Interstate expansion is also on the horizon, with the brand now positioned to franchise.
