Newly renovated Henley & Grange RSL celebrates launch with family-friendly event this weekend

The Henley and Grange RSL have revealed their stunning new clubrooms after a major refurbishment, and to celebrate they’re throwing a party!

A year shy of its 100 year anniversary, The Henley and Grange RSL has undergone a modern refurbishment.

The clubrooms, which have become a vital part of the local community, started renovations at the start of last year.

They underwent a full demolition of the detached transportable structure at the West of the building and the removal of the rear wall to facilitate a new, open area. Inside, old mechanical services have been renewed, and a new ceiling has been installed throughout.

The toilets and bar have also been refurbished, and a new disabled toilet and exterior ramp installed to promote accessibility.

To celebrate the grand reopening, the RSL is hosting a celebration day this Saturday, to bring the community together.

There will be an official ceremony at 3pm before the party kicks in with live entertainment from Adelaide-based tribute act No Matter What, playing tunes from the 1960s to now.

There’ll be pizza truck, if you get hungry, and a face-painter for the young (and young at heart).

Having formed in 1924, the first RSL meeting was held in the Henley Beach Town Hall. After a rise in member numbers in 1947, the RSL needed their own space and in 1947 moved to the upper storey of the Kiosk (now the Thai Orchid) in Henley Square.

In 1974 the present RSL clubrooms were built on land owned by the Henley and Grange Council. It’s this building that has now been extended and renovated.

Today, the club is open to the public and serves as a gathering place for people of all ages and backgrounds. Despite its growth and evolution, the Henley and Grange RSL remains true to its roots and its commitment to supporting the well-being of its members and the community. It continues to honor the service and sacrifice of veterans and to provide a welcoming and supportive space for all who are a part of it.

You can find the Henley & Grange RSL at 138 North Street, Henley Beach.
