It boasts one of the best waterfront spots in Adelaide, and now the iconic Adelaide Sailing Club in West Beach has reopened as a brand new venue.

With a new name literally meaning ‘by the sea’, Oceanique is the venue’s new bar, restaurant and event space – and there’s even a cellar door on the way.

There’s a big team behind the new venture, including part owners of North Adelaide’s The Store Joe Girolamo and Sum Dunning together with Sam’s wife Leticia.

It’s a huge venue – there’s room for 145 people to dine sea-side out on the balcony, plus there’s a courtyard, indoor restaurant, function room, plus a large lawn area leading directly onto the beach where visitors can wile the day away. And outside the venue, there’s oodles and oodles of parking.

Oceanique is serving up lunch and dinner from Wednesday to Sunday, with a menu of wholesome, fresh food, with a heavy focus on seafood given their location. Their specialty? Look out for their chilli prawn linguine.

From February 15, Oceanique is also launching breakfast on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

In the bar, you’ll find only South Australian drinks on tap, with beers from Mismatch Brewing Co and Coopers, plus Adelaide Hills cider, and wine also has a super local focus.

Given their connection to brunch hotspot The Store, you can expect they’ll be bringing plenty of the same goodness to the waterfront. They’ll have a similar-style breakfast menu, plus smoothies, coffee from locals Presstwood Roasters, and lots of morning cocktails for relaxed, boozy brunches.

“We are right on the ocean with one of the busiest walking tracks in South Australia directly in front of us and undoubtedly one of the best coastal views going,” said Sam Dunning.

“We love what we offer at The Store and we see this venue becoming one of the businest breakfast destinations in our state.”

And about that cellar door. Matt and Will from the Oceanique team are also the owners and winemakers from Lindsay Wine Estate in the Barossa. Their wines already feature heavily on the wine list, and they will eventually be setting up a beachside cellar door. They also have plans for special wine and food matching events, masterclasses and beachside wine events on the lawns (& weddings are even on the cards!)

Oceanique is open Wednesday to Sunday from noon – late for lunch and dinner, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8am for breakfast. See more at facebook.com/oceaniqueadl.
