First look: Jacka Brothers Brewery reopens after 87 years and epic renovations

The stunning Flinders Ranges property is opening temporarily this long-weekend to show visitors its incredible transformation.

These incredible before and afters show the stunning transformation of this 19th century Flinders Ranges building.

The renovation has been four and a half years in the making, and will finally restore the building to its brewery roots after 87 years, while keeping the rustic, heritage-listed style of the property.

This historic site nestled within the incredible surrounds of the Flinders Ranges, boasts the perfect combination of old and new, pairing the raw, natural beauty of the Flinders Ranges with all the contemporary, modern facilities needed from a fully-equipped event space.

While not yet taking bookings for events and accommodation, the Taphouse brewery will be inviting guests to pop in for a sneak peek over the coming long weekend to marvel at the incredible renovations, from 11am til late Friday 11 June to Monday 14 June, with food provided by Gumview Gourmet to keep visitors fed while they peruse the transformed property.

BEFORE

Originally starting out life as a flour mill, the Jacka Brothers transformed the property into a brewery in 1877, until it was closed down in 1934. Since then a local farmer has occupied the property, converting one of the main buildings into a shearing shed for livestock.

Since their purchase of the property in 2016, husband and wife Dale and Michelle Hobbs, along with their three kids and a team of helpers, have been working tirelessly to restore this run-down brewery to its former glory, looking to create the ideal space for every special event, from weddings and corporate retreats, to music festivals and anniversaries.

AFTER

Where the original bottling plant stood is now a four room boutique guest house, with the cellars that originally stored kegs of beer now acting as an atmospheric, rustic function centre.

Owners Dale and Michelle threw a private launch for the Brewery earlier this week, attended by over 200 guests who had all helped to achieve their dream of transforming the property from, thanking them for the tireless work they’d committed to the project from trades to business professionals.

Opening up their books for events and accommodation over the next few weeks, the Taphouse is projected to be a fully functional brewery once more by the end of this year, so keep your eye out for updates on when you can visit this beautiful, historic property.
