Thinking of taking some time to recharge and reset by the coast this summer? We’ve found the perfect venue just for that!
The recently launched ‘The ARV’ is all things clean, classic and calming. With soothing white walls, soft furnishings and contrasting greenery, this is the ultimate luxury house to escape to this summer.
You’ll find The Arv nestled in one of SA’s favourite beach towns, Robe. Located just over 3.5 hours from the city, this chic holiday destination sees travellers travellers flock, and it becomes a bustling holiday hotspot come summer.
“After falling in love with the small town of Robe, we spent countless trips diving, fishing and exploring the national parks with friends, realising just how special the South east of SA was. Short of moving to Robe, we wanted to create a special sanctuary others could share in, showcasing the best of the South Australian outdoors lifestyle, wine and seafood this area offers,” shared owner Leah Sandeman.
“There’s something incredible about the raw, raging Southern Ocean in the winter, where the power from the sea rumbles against Long Beach, just a few hundred meters away. When conditions are just right you can see lightning over the bay and most days the waves are heard clearly from the bedrooms crashing against the shore. This is the magic that made us so passionately pursue a build in this area, and having a special family home for our children was a legacy we always wanted to create- especially if we could share it with others and promote such an amazing little town and culture.”
The ARV is a family-built home, named after the Swedish word Arvadel meaning inheritance, which Leah explains is a nod to their future family dreams and values.
“Much of our inspiration for building a house in the area came from an amazing little children’s book called ‘Magic Beach’ by Alison Lester, and Robe is nothing short of bringing this story to life. There is nothing more special than being able to fulfill your imagination through a tiny coastal South Australian town.
“We started looking for land that suited our vision through 2020 and secured land off market in 2021, turning a grassy, dry paddock into a summer dream over the next 3 and a half years! After countless months of hard labour on the back of a shovel, back of a paintbrush and back of a sledgehammer stacking rocks with various local and SA trades, we’ve now opened our doors to the travelling community, and have been overwhelmed by the love and freedom those staying at ‘The Arv’ have felt.”
Through a blend of natural wood and stone, the space is warm and inviting and a place of connection and comfort, where guests can relax, create memories, and feel at home.
“This quickly turned from a ‘simple’ shack, to importing handpicked travertine from Jarusalem! Pouring our love for beautiful hues of neutral tones, blush pinks and classic stone, around curving landscaping and stacked local limestone, we were able to build something we were truly proud of.”
The four-bedroom, two-bathroom house, sleeps 12, making it the perfect home to escape to with a group of friends or family. The Scandinavian style is prominent throughout the property, with clean neutral tones and touches of colour.
Included in the house are plenty of amenities, including an indoor fireplace, full kitchen, espresso coffee machine, private patio, and backyard with outdoor furniture and a BBQ, internet and more. Providing all the necessary comforts and more.
“We’ve designed the property to be as airy and family friendly as possible, providing ample space for stretching your wings. The expansive stone deck, abundance of lush green grass and outdoor areas creates an inviting pull- promoting those staying here to throw open the bifold windows and sit around the bar sipping summer cocktails or warm winter reds over the Silvertop Ash decks. Olive trees rustle in the afternoon breeze and an abundance of local birds sing every morning, taking a particular liking to the hand-stacked stone wall that was created using locally sourced stone from underneath the Robe town itself.”
With a house this gorgeous staying in and enjoying the house is tempting. But with fantastic beaches, gorgeous galleries, cosmopolitan cafes, bars, restaurants, and stunning scenery, Robe is the ultimate glam summer location.
