Paris. It’s the timeless, cobblestone city that charms all who visit. Wandering down the picturesque streets you come across myriad cafés and restaurants. But you won’t have to travel so far to experience this one.
Maison Clement is the stunning French eatery on Currie Street that’s proving itself to be an authentic slice of Paris in the heart of the CBD. It’s a regional restaurant by the canal.
Maison Clement operates as a bistro boullian, which is a French eatery that serves delicious food, quickly and cheaply. Traditionally, bouillon (‘broth’ in English) was served by a bistro bouillon to workers in market halls.
“Operating as a bistro bouillon allows us to achieve our mission – providing an affordable French food experience using local South Australian as well as produce directly from France.” Clement said.
There are a range of traditional, sweet Viennese pastries, including the iconic croissant, which are all made fresh in-house. Further, they’re paying homage to the French boulangerie (bakery) by baking fresh baguettes every day, served with fresh local ingredients for a quick and tasty lunch.
But it’s not just baguettes and croissants. Maison Clement boast extensive offerings for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
At the start of the day, you can enjoy the Breakfast Forestiere of mushroom ragout on toasted sourdough topped with shaved gruyère. Or the Benedict Bourguignon, with poached eggs, bourguignon beef and toasted sourdough topped with hollandaise.
Then, for lunch, if you want something a little more substantial than their amazing selection of fresh baguettes, you can opt for the Bouillon, a chicken broth with fresh chicken breast and seasonal vegetables, or the flat-iron Steak Frites, served with chips, salad and shallot sauce.
There’s also the Croque Monsieur with green salad, or the Salmon Rilletes on grilled sourdough if you really want to lean in.
But it’s in the evenings where you really get to indulge in Maison Clement French goodness. As well as larger servings of their delicious lunch menu, you can grab the Scotch Filet with garlic baby potatoes and green peppercorn sauce, or the Grilled Cauliflower Steak with aubergine and capsicum press and roasted walnuts.
And to top it all off, you can sink that sweet tooth into a Creme Brûlée infused with vanilla bean, or the Crepe Suzettes with orange sauce and vanilla ice cream.
If you really want to indulge, Maison Clement offer a menu degustation, where you can choose any entree, main and dessert for just $46.
And if that’s not enough, Maison Clement have special wine nights on the first Saturday of every month, where you can enjoy specially curated dishes paired with local and French wines (bookings are essential).
Maison Clement is open seven days a week. They’ll be open from 7am – 8:30pm from Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 12noon Saturday and Sunday, with a 5:30pm – 9pm dinner sitting on the Saturday, too.
Bon Appetit!
