It’s the smooth, classic charm of a modern-day speakeasy and wine list most venues would die for that have the whole Adelaide asking: “When are we going to Bodega?’
The new McLaren Vale wine bar opened its doors in January and to absolutely no one’s surprise, has been absolutely killing it. With its long list of local and international wines, even the most conversant winos among us will be impressed and leave with an even broader knowledge and appreciation for the humble drop – which is exactly what General Manager, Pete Carpurso, was trying to achieve.
“We wanted to create a comfortable space where people can expand their knowledge of wines and educate themselves at a reasonable price,” he says.
“It really was about wanting to provide the local community access to a variety of wines they’d otherwise never be able to try”.
The list of wines surpasses 70 and is broken into regions and variety to ensure you know exactly what you’re getting and where it came from, with Bodega’s friendly staff always happy to help point you in the right direction.
And while wine might be the star of the show, Bodega also boasts an equally impressive range of dark and light spirits including traditional mezcal, an abundance of rum and more than 20 varieties of whisky.
McLaren Vale has long been known for its wine and Bodega is offering the chance to experience it in a completely different environment.
“Bodega is a classic 1940’s speakeasy vibe, the old building style helping in creating that atmosphere,” Pete explains.
The dark fittings and mood lighting perfectly set the scene and create a familiar vintage vibe where you’ll feel most at home while you sample some of the world’s best offerings in the world of liquor.
Bodega Wine Bar is open Weds – Friday from 4pm and Saturday – Sunday from 2pm.
