NEW: Mitolo Wines Debuts First Osteria On The Fleurieu Peninsula

Renowed for wine style and impressive property, Mitolo’s new Osteria is considered a brave, Italian inspired, food and wine experience.

Mitolo Wines is officially opening the first Osteria on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

Renowned for wine style and impressive property, Mitolo’s new Osteria is considered a brave, Italian inspired, food and wine experience.

The Osteria, named Little Wolf, will open its doors on Friday, November 1.

“The last two years have been amazing,” says owner Frank Mitolo. “We are proud of what we have created on this magnificent property but wine and food is a journey of continual discovery. The time has come for the next iteration of Mitolo.”

Little Wolf’s opening comes thanks to Frank’s collaboration with long-time friend and award-winning chef Vincenzo La Montagna. The chef celebrates Italian cooking and harbours a passion for the cuisine that so strongly lies in Mitolo’s heritage.

The Osteria is true to their hearts, with an emphasis on food the two grew up on, and have experienced throughout their travels.

Despite the contemporary Italian menu, homage will be paid to traditional flavours, with Vincenzo determined to use ingredients prepared with respect and care.

“I’ve always loved hunting, fishing and fresh ingredients,” he says. “Here at Mitolo, I’m surrounded by the sea, produce, and amazing wines. I want to share the fun.”

In Italy, an Osteria is a wine bar that serves simple, smart food, intended for sharing amongst family and friends. This is the mantra of Little Wolf.

With a focus on “house made” and “fire”, dishes will be cooked in the wood oven and on the wood grill.

As for the aesthetic of Little Wolf, Mitolo has harnessed the talents of New York artist Ricardo Gonzalez, who has created large-scale murals, and is known for his commercial work for brands including Apple, Nike, Microsoft, Google and Coca Cola. Ricardo will be creating artwork in his signature script style for the interior and exterior of the Osteria.

The intention is for Little Wolf to be an expression of nostalgia, a reflection of travel experiences and childhood memories, all whilst acknowledging the amazing produce and migrant history of McLaren Vale.

You can find Little Wolf at 141 McMurtrie Rd, McLaren Vale.
