Designed to harmonise with the natural beauty of its surroundings, Rare Earth Retreats offers customers a unique off-grid experience that celebrates sustainability and luxury on an equal playing field.
Marquis shared, “Powered entirely by the sun, staying with us means understanding that for us to not only thrive, but survive, we must be aware of our consumption. Fed completely by rainwater catchment from the roof, we learn to celebrate days of rain, and enjoy the time set aside to rug up by the fire. Without rain, after all, we would have no water.”
Architecturally influenced by the rich geological diversity of McLaren Vale, Rare Earth Retreats tells its story through three distinct designs: Stone, Clay, and Slate.
Each retreat has been meticulously crafted to mirror the local terroir, promising guests an enriched connection to the land they inhabit during their stay. Designed in collaboration with South Australian artists from JamFactory, each space features furnishings and artwork that complement the natural beauty of the region. “From coffee mugs to bar stools, no two pieces are the same, yet everything is intentional.”
Founder Holly Marquis says, “Having grown up around McLaren Vale, I’ve developed a deep affection for its landscape and the diverse community of producers who make it the place it is today. Rare Earth Retreats was born from a desire to celebrate the uniqueness of our region and share its beauty with others.”
Marquis also touched on the necessity of reducing our environmental footprint, aiming to craft an environment and experience that offers its guests off-grid luxury and comfort.
