Monarto Safari Parks reveals the final touches to the new visitor centre which will open to the public Friday 25 March.
The centre has the capacity to welcome an additional 55,000 people per year and has been a major boost for tourism and the South Australian job sector.
The $11.25 million dollar project is a major milestone for Adelaide’s Monarto Zoo is the first of three major improvements expected to be completed by the end of this year.
The redevelopment project includes a $40 million hotel and safari experience for guests in the Wild Africa precinct.
The space will include an indoor and outdoor café, nature play spaces, retail and plenty of parking as well as incredible views of the Monarto plains.
Zoos SA staff and volunteers have been working around the clock getting the new centre up and running in their roaring new location.
The director of Monarto Safari park Peter Clark says the zoo is more excited than ever to welcome visitors to the new and improved space.
“It is a big milestone for us and we are really looking forward to welcoming visitors to the new space.
The location will act as an educational hub for zoo visitors and animal lovers of all ages, with guests to experience a new era of the safari park.
Visitors can now enter the park from Monarto road and make their way through newly planted greenery and lush plants to the new Safari Park.
“The new walk trails have been completed and our wonderful team of volunteers have planted the last of the new trees and shrubs.
“We’ve been waiting for this day an we’re all very excited it is not just around the corner!
