Mr Chu’s Café & Eatery, renowned for its delicious western food with a South East Asian-inspired twist, has opened its second location in Burnside Village.
While Mr Chu’s Norwood venue caters to both day and night dining, the new Burnside establishment is focused exclusively on breakfast and lunch, with an expanded space for display fridges, allowing for a more extensive selection of options.
Think sandwiches, or “sandos” as they’re affectionately known, along with a delectable array of cakes and pastries sourced from a skilled French baker.
“We thought that there’s a real need for a special brunch offering like this in Burnside Village. It’s a great opportunity to come in and increase the offering for the centre,” owner and hospitality native Daniel Chu says.
Adding to the appeal, Mr Chu Café in Burnside is fully licensed and is serving up breakfast cocktails and bubbles, making it a fantastic spot for those looking to indulge in a bit of morning extravagance. Plans are also in the works to introduce a cheese platter and potentially host hi-tea sessions.
“Mr Chu Burnside will have everything you could think of for brunch,” Daniel says.
Fans of Mr Chu’s Norwood location need not worry; the Burnside venue features the same beloved brunch menu that has won the hearts of many.
Additionally, each store offers a distinctive seasonal special menu, with the head chef at each location given creative freedom to design dishes that capture the essence of the season.
“We have the staple Australian brunch classics like benedicts, omelette, plus South East Asian-infused brunch options like matcha French toast and our signature pork katsu sando,” Daniel says.
“Burnside will also have a few of our signature truffle dishes like truffle mushrrom toastie, truffle mie goreng, truffle fried rice and the truffle beef burger, which people crave a lot at Norwood.”
The South East Asian twist comes from Daniel’s love of the local food scene, but also his passion for his home town.
“I came here 15 years ago as an International student, and I always wanted to infuse my local culture with the delicious Western food here. I’m introducing asian flavours into the dishes which we all know and love,” Daniel says.
The new venue is “very clean, contemporary, comfortable and cosy” and perfect to pop-into or spend some time enjoying is quality food, extensive drink offerings, and top-notch hospitality.
Mr Chu Café & Eatery has quickly become a cherished fixture in South Australia’s dining scene.
Open: 8:30am – 5pm
