Munno Para has long stood next to some of South Australia’s most fertile farmland and now, thanks to a major redevelopment, Munno Para Shopping City makes the connection between agriculture and food culture a lot stronger.
The jewel in the crown of this redevelopment, Munno Asian Grocer & Bar does exactly what its name suggests—bringing exquisite Asian foods and flavours together in a hybrid retail and hospitality offering.
The grocer part of the store stocks produce from local farms on its shelves, while the bar utilises those same fresh ingredients in its exquisite SE Asian menu.

Created by Natlie Orm, Yany Orm, Mina Vuong, and Deja Orm, Munno celebrates the role food plays in creating a sense of place, home, and family.
Brothers, sisters, partners—all—share the philosophy that, “if you can’t stand the heat, you probably need to spend more time in the kitchen,” co-owner Yany Orm said.
Munno’s menu is inspired by the family’s favourite dishes and their love of deconstructing meals to find the best quality ingredients and strongest possible flavours.
“The grocery store and the restaurant take their inspiration from the daily rhythm and the fresh food culture you experience across SE Asia,” says Yany.

“On any given street you’ll find the markets open early and the street vendors serving up single-minded meals with ingredients they sourced at that same market,” he says.
Munno drives hard at the concept of showcasing the whole and raw ingredients used in their own kitchen and menu and celebrating Munno Para as a place where great food is grown and gathered.
With well over 100,000 visitors every week, Munno Para Shopping City is a bustling place, thriving in the wake of its redevelopment.

Co-director of the shopping centre, Spero Chapley says the redevelopment was the best way to celebrate the centre’s 30-year anniversary.
“We needed to update the place from that very 1990s look and feel, to something much more contemporary,” Spero said.
“We wanted to create something special for the people of Munno Para, something the locals might not necessarily expect but absolutely deserve.”
