FIRST LOOK: New Brighton doughnut haven Landoughs opens

Brighton Beach’s newest dessert haven Landoughs is ready to serve up their mouth-watering goods from 10:30am Saturday.

Doughnut lovers rejoice!!!! The wait is finally over as one of the most anticipated stores, Landoughs, prepares to open their doors TODAY.

The fourth store of hospitality king Josh Rivers has been the talk of Brighton and surrounds lips for the better part of a year, with many patiently waiting to get their hands on the delicious treats.

From 10:30am, Landoughs will be serving up their full range of doughnuts, but in true Josh Rivers fashion -expect the unexpected.

“We’ll have a face painter and will have our full range of doughnuts available, coffee will be on including frappes and all that,” Josh said.

The mouth watering lineup includes a biscoff ring donut, maple bacon pockets, dulce de leche logs, pistachio papi, original glaze, lemon cheesecake, ferrero rocher, raspberry and white chocolate, caramel apple.

But of course, you will need something to wash all that goodness down so think caramel frappaccinos, banana thickshakes, as much whipped cream as you want and of course really, really good coffee.

In the coming weeks, you can also expect Landoughs highly anticipated slabwich – a savoury doughnut sandwich – with 2-3 flavours rotating monthly. The basis is formed by “baking a very soft white bread loaf that we will cut into slabs around 1.5 inches thick”, which, following a central incision, will be “stuffed full of fillings”, the outsides buttered and fried.

Following the successes of sister businesses Remy’s Deep Dish Pizza and Bar and Diamond Burger’s American-inspired flavours, and of course Josh’s first shop C.R.E.A.M, he could not say no when the space next to C.R.E.A.M became available last year. “I know and love Jetty Road thanks to C.R.E.A.M., so I couldn’t say no to the opportunity.”

Landoughs is a sugary-sweet play on words of the name Josh’s wife Chimere chose for their son. After all these years in the business, Josh notes this marks a special moment for their family because “everything I’ve done over the years… has always been for him”.

The baby pink store which stars glossy spun-sugar pink tiles texturing walls and counter, has been tucked away behind newspaper for the better part of a year, as the team worked tirelessly behind the scenes to bring us the delectable goods.

After a successful soft opening last week where more than 80 people had lined up before the store even opened, the team are ready to serve up a storm so what are you waiting for?
