A cosy new eatery has quietly opened on Waymouth Street, bringing a lineup of stacked burgers and indulgent pastas to the west end of Adelaide’s CBD.
Hungry Man’s Cafe is a family-run venue serving up generous, home-style fare with a focus on affordability and freshness. Just a few days into trade, it’s already turning heads with its loaded burgers, punchy pastas, and classic brekkies.

Owner and chef TJ, who runs the business with his brother Manoj, said the idea came from their shared passion for food and frustration with how expensive eating out could be.
“We thought, why don’t we try opening our own place, with good food at affordable prices, and see how it goes,” TJ said.
With five plus years of experience cheffing in Tasmania, TJ is proud of the work happening in the compact kitchen at Hungry Man’s.
“We’re making our food from scratch. The burgers, the pastas, the sauces, everything’s fresh and made in-house,” he said.
One of his personal favourites on the menu is the Hot Chicken Burger, a crunchy southern fried chicken burger. The Smokeshow Penne is the other favourite that TJ shouts out. The dish brings together crispy bacon, spicy salami, sautéed veg and a creamy Napoli sauce, all tossed through penne and topped with parmesan.
As promised, everything on the menu is surprisingly affordable, with burgers from $10.49 and pastas from $12.99.

Hungry Man’s is from Monday to Thursday, breakfast ’til late on Fridays, and lunch and dinner on Saturdays.
TJ says the space itself is small, just 60 square metres with around 20 seats, but it has a warm, welcoming feel and a steady stream of nearby office workers, tradies, and students are already discovering it.
“We’re in a part of the city that’s been a bit quiet for a while. We’re just hoping to bring something fresh to the area,” he said.
Whether you’re after a quick bite, a comfort feed, or somewhere new to support local, Hungry Man’s Cafe is worth checking out. Just come with an appetite!
