A new Korean restaurant, 88 POCHA, has officially opened on The Parade in Norwood, bringing authentic Korean food and soju to a dining scene that’s been craving it. From the team behind Plus 82 Group, 88 POCHA is located right next to Hoyts in a popular area that’s already busy with dining spots. With its fun, retro-inspired vibe, and a menu that honours traditional Korean cuisine, 88 POCHA is already heating things up.
The star dish at 88 POCHA will be Dak Galbi – a spicy stir-fried chicken that was developed in the 1960s. For those who prefer a milder flavour, a non-spicy option will also be available. Perfect for sharing, Dak Galbi is ideal for family gatherings and casual hangouts with friends. It’s celebrated as one of the best stir-fried dishes in the world and 88 POCHA’s version will be made from cherished recipes. Head Chef Hyemi Lim brings her family’s cooking heritage to the table, having grown up preparing traditional Korean dishes for special occasions.
Diners can look forward to table-side cooking, where they will see Dak Galbi sizzle and cook right before their eyes, along with delicious fried rice or noodles cooked at the end of the meal. 88 POCHA will also be serving up small sharing plates, including steak tartare, oysters, and kimchi pancakes. Plus, there will be a kid’s menu!
When you step into 88 POCHA, the restaurant has a fun, retro vibe that pays tribute to the history of the Dak Galbi dish. And what about the name? “88 POCHA” is a nod to the iconic 1988 Seoul Olympics – a significant moment in history that put Korean culture and cuisine on the global map.
So, if you’re in the mood for some sizzling Dak Galbi, soju, and a taste of Korea, be sure to check out this brand-new dining destination in Adelaide’s eastern suburbs!
