New restaurant and bar, HNLY, has opened bringing your beachside dining experience at Henley Square to the next level.

Located upstairs above Estia Greek Restaurant, guests are treated to elevated views of the vibing square while served the freshest seafood and local produce.

The new restaurant is brought to you by George Kasimatis of George’s on Waymouth along with Peter Louca and Angela Papas of Diaspora Kouzina and Loucas Restaurant.

HNLY brings the esteemed knowledge of all three iconic Adelaide restaurateurs to the one location for the ultimate seaside eatery.

We were given a first look at the stunning venue and can confirm, it brings guests straight to the balmy balconies of Europe.

As guests walk upstairs to the restaurant from either of the entrances at Henley Square or from Seaview Road, they are transported across the world into a casual sophisticated European eatery.

With the interior design by Genesin Studio, there’s a sense of elegance and prestige yet a comforting welcome.

“You feel like you’re in Europe with limestone and travertine used across the space,” Angela said.

“The whole aesthetic is very neutral.”

Timber and shades of brown and sand bring warmth to the sleek interior. The white upside deck ceiling stretches across the dining area as guests walk into the neat scatter of tables and booths.

The vast space is separated by a roof to floor sandstone fireplace feature; once you pass this, guests are treated to a generous travertine bar serving up cocktails and wine with a focus on South Australian producers, as well 23rd Street Distillery as the house gin.

The gorgeous venue itself is matched with equally stunning seaside views. The corner location is filled with tall windows that overlook the square and the lively beach streets with the vast balcony stretch welcoming guests to open-air dining.

Guests are able to look over the pristine beach and jetty, vibrant atmosphere of the square and neighbouring eateries.

Angela said the team initially planned to open a Greek restaurant in Norwood; however, once this opportunity in a prime location presented itself they changed direction, whilst still leaving the door ajar for a Norwood opening in the near future.

“We are focusing heavily on local fresh produce, mainly SA sourced,” Angela said.

“We are working directly with some of Australia’s leading seafood suppliers including fisherman Chris Bolton in QLD.”

“Chris fishes late afternoon and by morning its shipped so that at lunch we have the product ready to serve – that’s less than a 12 hour turn around.”

HNLY offers a Mediterranean menu in line with the European style interior. The food will be cooked up by head chef Ricardo Plazola from Allegra Dining Room, who has the support of Grant Schooling from Loucas Restaurant.

Whilst the menu has a focus on seafood, it’s paired nicely with meat and vegetarian options too. For starters you can look forward to Coffin Bay oysters, NZ Ora King salmon with pickled jalapeño and Tasmanian salmon pate with olive crumb.

Larger dishes include mouth-watering Greenslade’s roast chicken, Port Broughton blue swimmer crab spaghettini and fried cauliflower with ricotta.

There’s a generous dessert offering which includes the HNLY summer berry Eton mess and rhubarb tart with red wine caramel meringue.

Think balmy summer days ahead, the freshest seafood and an Aperol in hand. HNLY brings a slice of your dream European holiday to Henley square.

HNLY is located at Henley Square, Henley Beach SA.

It trades seven days a week from midday.
