A new bar and kitchen has opened in Adelaide’s West End, bringing authentic Asian flavours, cocktails, small plates, and good vibes to the city.
Sober Company is all about bringing balance to your typical bar experience. It’s a venue that blends bold innovation with subtle tradition, working to combine the old with the new. This refined, casual spot is hoping to be a cosy and comfortable place you’ll want to enjoy time after time.
“We want this to be somewhere you can come with your friends and have a good time,” shared Mario from the Sober Company team.
“We’re focused on our drinks and have been creating a great menu that people are loving. We’re really excited about this new venture and so far the feedback has been great.”

On the menu, you’ll see influence from Japan and Korea, with the team behind it hoping to emulate the style and culture you find at bars scattered around Tokyo and Seoul. They’ve got a carefully curated collection of sake, soju, and some spectacular handcrafted cocktails to perfectly match the vibe.
While curated, the cocktail list is big and bold. There are plenty of classics and a few new drinks that you’ll be keen to try. Flavours of lychee, coconut, peach, and lime are featured in drinks like the ‘Ramos Gin Fizz’, ‘Lychee No Love’, ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, and the ‘Like Peach’. Joining these are all-time favourites like espresso martinis and mojitos.
So far, they’ve taken a lot of inspiration from their customers as well. Mario says they’ve seen a lot of international students come through and share their ideas for cocktails with flavours from home.

Adding to the menu, they’ve also brought a twist to your sodas and sours, have authentic plum wines, sakes, whisky flights, wines, cocktail jugs and much more.
Mario shared that they also have a great range of Asian beers, which he’s a big fan of. He also said they’re looking at maybe bringing in some local favourites too.
You’ll find a packed menu of comforting Asian flavours joining the drinks list. With starters, appetisers, mains and desserts, it makes this the perfect spot to stop for dinner and dessert, or just a light snack with a drink.
Start the meal with fresh sashimi, yakitori, chicken wings, or tempura, or enjoy it as a snack. Then try the rice bowls, curries, udon, and dumplings as mains. Finish this off with a Swiss roll for dessert, and no doubt you’ll leave satisfied.

Adding to the ambience, the space was designed with soft lighting that bounces off the dark walls and colourful prints. The furniture is sleek and wooden, and set up to make for a perfectly intimate setting, while still being social. Sit in the main space and enjoy the live music before you, or tuck yourself away in a booth for a slightly more cosy experience.
As for the live music, Mario said that they’ve got a lot of great stuff planned, and have loved having Chinese and K-Pop music in the restaurant so far.
