FIRST LOOK: New world-class restaurant Station Road opens at Festival Tower this week

Station Road, a world-class French-inspired restaurant located on the ground floor of Festival Tower in Adelaide’s CBD, will officially open this week.

Station Road (STN RD), a world-class French-inspired restaurant located on the ground floor of Festival Tower in Adelaide’s CBD, will officially opens its doors on Thursday November 14th. Created by Walker Corporation, the new venue will bring fine dining to a relaxed setting, striking the perfect balance between casual comfort and refined elegance.

Led by Head Chef Baine Stubbs, Station Road’s menu is inspired by classic French techniques with a modern Australian twist. Baine, who has worked at famous restaurants like Vue de Monde in Melbourne and top establishments in Paris, describes his cooking style as “unpretentious and clean.” His focus is on using fresh, locally sourced ingredients and expert preparation to create one-of-a-kind dishes.

“We know this will be both a casual, approachable spot and a top-tier dining journey,” General Manager & Co-owner, Mathieu Smeysters, says.

“Station Road also has Head Chef Baine Stubbs at the helm, who is now calling Adelaide home after working in some of the world’s best restaurants – diners are going to love his food!”

The menu features a variety of refined and exciting dishes. Snacks include a mushroom and gruyere tart with pickled jalapeno, hand-picked mud crab served with blood lime and preserved chilli, and duck liver parfait with almond and sauternes. For starters, guests can enjoy southern rock lobster cannelloni with serrano ham and sauce mornay, or Mayura station wagyu tartare with Tasmanian wasabi, among other delicacies.

For the main course, diners can choose from Queensland tiger prawns and Nduja tempura with warm tartare, a terrific lamb rack with braised shoulder, peas and cauliflower, or campanelle pasta with miso, pecorino and chilli. There are six main courses, each designed to showcase bold and balanced flavours.

“We’re also extremely proud of the dessert offering which Baine put together with French Head Pastry Chef, Rosanna Petit,” Mathieu says.

“Expect a classic Paris Brest, a Daintree chocolate tart and an authentic baba rum with spiced pineapple.”

There will be plenty for wine lovers too who will be impressed by Station Road’s extensive wine list, which includes both classic and lesser-known varietals from Australia and beyond. Guests can even sample rare wines by the glass using the restaurant’s Coravin system, without committing to a full bottle.

Brought to you by the team behind East End Cellars, Mother Vine, and East End Cellars Norwood, Station Road features a stunning fit-out by Studio Nine Architects. The space includes a central marble bar, a temperature-controlled wine vault, and a dedicated wine room. The wine room an intimate setting for those enjoying a drink or small bites, while the light-filled dining room opens onto the plaza, perfect for alfresco dining on summer days.

Designed to cater to both walk-in diners and those with reservations, Station Road is set to become one of Adelaide’s top dining destinations, with a capacity of 140 outdoor seats and 110 indoor seats.

“We are proud to have the Station Road team raise the bar in exceptional dining experiences for Adelaide,” Walker Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, David Gallant, says.

“Like the best squares in the world, our vision for Festival Plaza was to see it buzzing with people enjoying great South Australian food and wine in the heart of the Riverbank precinct.

“We hope to see our Festival Tower tenants enjoying Station Road for lunchtime catch ups, client entertainment and after work dinners with family and friends over the coming months.”

Station Road will be open seven days a week, offering lunch Tuesday to Sunday and dinner Monday to Saturday. Check it out from Thursday the 14th!
