Nice Rack Sustainable Fashion opens new retro thrift store in Brighton

Nice Rack Sustainable Fashion has just opened its doors on its stunning new sustainable thrift store in South Brighton.

Adelaide’s thrift shop pool just grew a little bigger, with the addition of Nice Rack Sustainable Fashion.

The gorgeous new South Brighton destination has just opened its doors, welcoming shoppers to its racks.

Owner Bessie Ferrante embarked on this journey with the support of her husband, who owns a coffee shop two stores down.

“I’ve always had a deep love for thrifting. When shopping for myself and the kids, I first sort out the second-hand hits before buying anything brand new,” Bessie explained.

“I just love thrifting and finding funky new stuff. Once the storefront became available I knew I had to jump on it, with my partner’s coffee shop being two doors down and the community being as incredible as it is, it was the perfect opportunity.”

“I’m trying to break the mold of fast and throw-away fashion. My intention is to spend every day helping to change people’s minds about where and how they get their clothes, and that this sort of shopping is better than new as it can be branded, in near perfect condition and cheaper.”

“Every piece often has a story, especially those unique vintage pieces which you don’t find in general retail stores.”

Formerly a dog wash, the space was completely transformed in just a six-week period. Bessie and her family put in hours of hard work to transform the space into a vibrant retro haven for funky thrift finds.

The shop embodies everything retro. From the decor to the music, to the hats and the shoes, everything you find in this store is retro chic.

“There is so much of my personality in this shop, it is literally me shop form! It’s such a great spot, perfect for the avid thrifter or someone looking for a fun space to spend time in.”

While the music and great clothes make for the perfect combination for the ultimate shopper, Bessie has made sure to also accommodate for parents who may not have time to shop alone.

The store has a dedicated kids’ corner packed with toys and plenty for the little ones to do, while you shop until your heart’s content in the vibrant store space.

“Part of the sustainability aspect is also supporting local small businesses which is why I have my local artisans shelving at the front of the store. With organic locally blended tea which you can scoop and weigh yourself by Fresia and Cassia, soaps, bath soaks, hand wash from Sweet Nola and ceramics by MandyJ Herbert, handmade in Stirling, plus 6-7 other locally made giftware and beauty products.”

“We’ve only been open for two and a half weeks and the response has been incredible. So many people have come and had a shop and we’ve had a huge amount of people wanting to rent a rack.”

Nice Rack Sustainable Fashion is open 7 days a week and caters to women, men and children.
