FIRST LOOK: “Now it really feels like us” Kersbrook Hill opens new eclectic cellar door in local pub

The move is dubbed a “merging of community,” offering gourmet pizzas, craft beers, and an extended drink offering.

Kersbrook Hill Wines & Cider has officially opened the doors to its new cellar door, moving from its beloved South Para Road home into a much larger former pub space. Mary Clark, co-owner with her husband Paul says, “now, it really feels like us.”

Mary says the new venue has already been warmly received. “We’ve had so many people pop in who have supported us for years, and plenty of new faces too,” she says. “It’s wonderful to see locals who’ve never been to our old cellar door coming through the door. It really feels like we’re reaching a wider community now.”

The move has allowed Kersbrook Hill to expand its offering beyond its award-winning wines and ciders. Guests can now enjoy two craft beers under the Kersbrook Hill label, along with a selection of popular beers and ciders on tap

The label is well known for its sparkling whites, sparkling reds, its Alicante Bouchet, and its innovative White Shiraz, ‘The Peacemaker’. There’s plenty more you’ve got to try and Mary says the best way to do it is come in for a free wine tasting.

To pair, the Kersbrook kitchen whips up gourmet pizzas, local produce platters, and coffees and cakes for later on.

The interior is where this cellar door move really shines. Mary and Paul knew they wanted to emulate the feeling of their familiar, eclectic, South Para Road cellar door, and the new space reflects the charm and personality that’s brought people back to Kersbrook time and time again.

“Our old cellar door always felt like an extension of our home, and that’s exactly what we’ve tried to do here,” Mary says. “We’ve used recycled and mismatched furniture, added leather lounges, and even brought across the vine mural painted by local artist Rachel Scholich. It really ties the old venue to the new one.”

The well-kept 1970s build has allowed Mary and Paul to channel efforts into transforming the interiors, making sure it’s welcoming and comfortable for the opening. That said, plans are already in place to develop the back paddock into a beautiful outdoor seating space, and future updates to the exterior are also on the cards.

Mary says there was some scepticism around how the revamp would turn out, but “everyone’s walked in and said, ‘wow, you did it, and even better than we could have imagined.’ It feels absolutely amazing. We’re so grateful for all the support. This has been such an incredible opportunity for our family, and we just hope we live up to everyone’s expectations.”

With its doors now open and plenty to discover inside, Kersbrook Hill’s new cellar door is ready to welcome wine lovers old and new. Drop by, say hi to Mary and Paul, and see how good the next chapter tastes.
