A new sanctuary of self-care has just arrived in Adelaide, with Onsen bringing a sauna-focused lounge, inspired by the Japanese hot spring tradition, to Torrensville.
For those who value slowing down, recharging and taking a moment for themselves, Onsen is bringing a slice of Japan to Adelaide with saunas, magnesium pools and compression therapy, all curated to nourish both body and mind.
Owners James Rosback and Joshua O’Grady drew upon their own experiences visiting onsens overseas to create a space that encourages locals to step out of their daily grind. It’s a place where the community comes together to recharge alone or connect with others in a calm, intentional environment.
Onsen’s design mirrors its ethos. Minimalist, Japan-inspired interiors, Venetian plaster and exposed concrete walls create a calming backdrop for timber saunas and magnesium pools. The traditional barrel sauna accommodates up to six people per session, which can be enjoyed in 25-minute blocks, for $27 per person. For those looking for something a bit more private, two full-spectrum infrared saunas are available, with sessions ranging from 25 to 55 minutes, including options to bring a friend for longer shared sessions.
There are also four premium magnesium pools to enjoy, alternating between hot baths and cold plunges to awaken the senses, each available for a 25-minute solo session. Normatec compression boots provide a modern recovery option, promoting circulation and muscle revival in 55-minute sessions for $25.
And if you’re looking for a complete Onsen experience, two curated packages make indulgence simple. The Base Set includes five 25-minute sessions for $110, while the Deep Reset offers ten sessions for $190, giving visitors up to 30 per cent off the standard pricing.
