Classic dining reinvented is what’s to come at Exchange Place, as new restaurant and bistro, Patina Place, prepares to open its doors this spring.

From the mind of acclaimed restaurateur Abdulla Daher, the force behind the much-loved Pranzo Restaurant, Patina Place is bringing a new all-day, European dining option to the city.

Abdulla began his career in hospitality in 2001, founding and running Pranzo for fifteen years, and after a short break, he’s back with a new venture.

“We’re really focusing on a bistro-style breakfast and lunch, we’ll have a Friday night dinner service too,” shared Abdulla. “It’s got lots of classic European dishes with a few French influences, but we’re just focusing on generous, well-executed food.”

The team is passionate about creating a good breakfast and lunch spot that will appeal to those who frequent the area. Whether it’s a coffee meeting in the morning, or grabbing a quick lunch throughout the day, Patina Place is here to serve the locals.

The menu will be seasonal and approachable, with bistro-inspired dishes, created to work just as well for a casual business lunch as it does for a Friday night catch-up.

As for the fit out, you’ll find interiors designed by Dom Roberts that follow the philosophy of simplicity and connection. With dark timbers and soft textures, the design is deliberately understated, creating a calm space from the hustle and bustle surrounding the venue.

“Darker timber tones and subtle textures shape a space where the noise recedes and the essentials come forward; thoughtful conversation, warm connection, and food worth remembering,” shared Dom.

“The space itself is warm and modern. It will be somewhere corporate guests can feel comfortable, somewhere they can talk, eat, and discuss business,” said Abdulla. Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, a meeting, or dinner, this is sure to be a place where you can sit down and feel at ease.

Patina Place will be championing SA and local produce, so you’ll know you’re eating something good. It’s all about good food, good quality ingredients, and an even better experience.
