In early August this year, coffee and pickle lovers alike rejoiced over the news of a brand new Pickle in the Middle location, Pickle in the City. Now the team has moved into their CBD spot on the ground floor of Adelaide’s sparkling new Festival Tower.
While we patiently wait for the official opening, Pickle in the City has just opened up in a pop-up cafe open Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 2:30pm. The pop-up will offer freshly brewed coffees just like the ones we’ve come to expect at Pickle in the Middle in Unley. You can also grab a sweet treat to go as you swing past. The selection includes brownies made by Uraidla’s Four Seeds, and house made Nutella, Biscoff and red velvet cookies.

The official Pickle in the City opening is set for early 2025. Owner Luke Halloran says he is really looking forward to bringing the “same great feel,” the Unley location is fondly known for, while “establishing a new identity” to match the new location’s bustling CBD setting.
Pickle in the City will reside on the ground floor of Festival Tower, boasting a spacious seating area and impressive high ceilings. The pop-up sits next to the cafe’s back of house and the kitchen will extend well beyond the marble facade that is currently on show. The cafe is currently getting a bar build to match the black marble tables already situated in the space.

The renowned concept cafe, known for its love of all things pickled, has been delighting patrons since early 2015. For nearly a decade, the cafe has received widespread praise for its creative menu, featuring fresh and flavourful dishes, all incorporating an array of delicious pickled ingredients.
Pickle in the Middle has received a rush of great reviews for its Unley Road cafe, including winning Unley Rotary Club’s small business award in 2019. Halloran shared that expanding is the logical next step in the cafe’s flourishing journey.

With roots in Adelaide’s Central Market as a pop-up cafe, Pickle in the City will revisit its humble beginnings entrenched in a fast-paced, competitive urban lifestyle.
Look out for Pickle in the City set to open in late January next year, but while you wait, grab a hot coffee and a cookie from the cafe’s pop-up cart on the ground floor of Festival Tower.
