Prince Alfred College has unveiled its $23 million redevelopment plan for a modern, state-of-the-art preparatory school. Designed by architects at Walter Brooke and Associates, known for their work on the Adelaide Oval redevelopment and Eos by SkyCity, PAC says the redevelopment is “designed to support our vision for the future of teaching and educating boys at the school.”
The preparatory school redevelopment is part of a larger, multi-year Master Plan that includes five main stages. These are:
- Preparatory School Redevelopment: Upgrading the primary school facilities.
- Carpark Development: Creating a new parking area.
- Multi-purpose Sports Field: Building a new sports field.
- Secondary School Development: Expanding and improving secondary school facilities.
- Secondary School Refurbishment: Renovating existing secondary school spaces.
“The Master Plan will play a critical role in our College vision to provide exceptional people, programs and facilities,” Prince Alfred College Headmaster, Mr David Roberts, said.
“It will bring with it adaptable new areas for learning, flexible and functional spaces that will evolve alongside education across this century, beautiful environments that allow for active play and learning, and a much-needed parking solution for our community.
“We are fortunate with the current space and facilities we have that this work will be staged and undertaken without disruption to our teaching and learning and co-curricular programs.”
The first stage of the Master Plan focuses on the preparatory school and features nine new purpose-built classrooms, a range of breakout spaces (both large and small), an updated visitor reception and student support services, a multi-purpose function space, new staff facilities for collaboration and preparation, and engaging outdoor learning and play.
Stage 2, which involves the Carpark Development, has received initial approval from the local council. Future stages will continue with community feedback and additional council approvals. Funding will come from the College, loans, and fundraising, with Stage 1 set to begin in December 2024, and Stage 2 starting in 2025.
“Our plans are ambitious because we want the best for our boys at all stages of their journey at the College,” Mr Roberts said.
The new facilities will face Dequetteville Terrace and are set to provide a dynamic learning environment where students can explore and work together. Stay tuned for updates as the Prince Alfred College Master Plan progresses.
