When Pat and Bree dreamt of opening a cafe, they had a community space in mind—a home away from home where you feel part of the family. A place where people could escape the busyness of life to enjoy a relaxing coffee, delicious bites, and great chats. They realised their dream this week with the opening of Roast Retreat in Brighton!
When Glam Adelaide checked in with them on their official opening day this Friday, May 17th, they were already under the pump. Well done to everyone who headed in to show their support for a new small business! Let’s keep that local love going.

The Roast Retreat team’s passion for community extends beyond South Australia. They also ensure they support communities abroad by sourcing ethical ingredients, such as their coffee beans.
“We have partnered with St Remio Coffee Suppliers because of their efforts to connect the consumer to the grower, letting them see and understand the process of coffee and the effort it takes to bring the daily cup you love to each day.
Not many people know that 80% of the world’s coffee farmers live below the poverty line. When we learned that St Remio funds projects, education, and infrastructure to lift communities out of poverty and empower them to establish their own businesses, we knew they were the right match for us”.

They’re committed to using Australian-made and owned products, such as the Fleurieu Milk Company, to support local dairy farmers. If cow milk isn’t your thing, you’ll be delighted to learn that they not only use MilkLab’s range of alternative milks but they also won’t slug you an extra fee for this option.
If retail therapy is your avenue to zen, then head over to their retail space, which includes the Australian brands Salt by Hendrix, Cleanse & Co, and Lemon & Sage.

The emphasis on creating an inclusive space for all to relax extends to carers seeking a cool, urban, kid-friendly space with an affordable menu that appeals to big and little humans alike, making it a perfect spot for family outings.
And for those with dietary restrictions, you’ll be pleased to learn the café is both vegan and gluten-free friendly, ensuring there’s something delicious for everyone.

Their free WiFi and workspace options allow busy multitaskers to kick back, slow down, and sip that coffee at a leisurely pace.
Bree told Glam Adelaide, “…our customers are at the heart of everything we do.” We certainly hope they’ll soon be within the hearts of many cafe lovers in Brighton and beyond for years to come.
