Seventy Eight on Rundle is the new name for the popular Eastside hotspot that’s recently taken over from cafe g+gracin. Located in Kent Town and following new ownership, the brekky and lunch go-to has recently had a makeover with a new look and expanded offering just in time for the Summer season.
After serving the local community for years, the establishment is now in the hands of Megan, a veteran in the hospitality industry, and she has since given new life to the venue, creating an exciting space that will not only be a new favourite dining haven to Kent Town locals but will attract all South Aussies to the eclectic outer city suburb.

Launching this Friday, Seventy Eight on Rundle will be officially open for dinner and features a spectacular new bar—offering cocktails and the finest of South Aussie wines and gins—as the centrepiece of this updated venue.
‘We’ve installed a full terrazzo concrete bar at the front, booth seating and green panelling throughout—it’s changed from purely just a cafe spot to include a sophisticated bar/restaurant vibe in the evenings.’
Besides the big changes indoors, Megan has also revamped the venue’s outdoors.

‘The outdoor area out the back hasn’t been utilised until now, and so we’ve upgraded that into a sophisticated space where people can kick back with a wine and relax with friends’, says Megan. ‘It’ll be perfect for the warmer weather and can accommodate larger groups for functions and any special occasions.’
And whilst the menu still has favourites like popular breakfast dishes, paninis and wraps, there are some new additions to the menu, with the evening featuring more tapas-style options.

‘At night, it’s going to be a really versatile menu of modern Australian fusion dishes’, says Megan. ‘We have things like katsu sandos, crab toast, and kingfish ceviche, with bigger items like beef cheeks and our own take on Korean wings—so a real mix of stuff.’
Whilst there is a delicious selection of small, medium and large bites, Megan reiterates that they’re all designed to be shared, and for those who can’t decide, there’s also a ‘feed me’ option for a minimum of 2 people.
‘Our drinks menu features an extensive cocktail list, with favourites like the blood orange gin sour, spicy margarita, and our own exclusive artisan blend espresso martini, and on Sundays, we’re gonna have a Spritz Sunday focus out in the garden’, says Megan.

The drinks list will also showcase gins from local distillery Reform Distilling and SA craft spirit distillery 36 Short, with wines from Emmalene in the Adelaide Hills and Mazi from McLaren Vale, who specialise in Rose.
Megan wants South Australians to know that Seventy Eight on Rundle will not be your mainstream bar experience and that every attention to detail has been considered in the lead-up to this opening.
‘I’ve really put a lot of time and thought into every detail’, says Megan. ‘All of our gold cutlery matches the gold of our indoor table bases, and we’ve had a massive, beautiful mural painted outside by local SA artist @nicky.create—which flows from outside to the indoors and really captures the essence of the space.’

The cafe side of Seventy Eight on Rundle is open seven days a week, from 7 am Monday to Friday and 8 am Saturday and Sunday, with the new evening restaurant offering running from Thursday through to Sunday from 5 pm until late.
‘We’re excited to share our new space with the loyal customer base that has been a part of g+gracin for years, as well as welcoming a broader demographic with our new nighttime offering,’ says Megan.
