If Adelaideans are looking for a sophisticated and elevated wine-sipping experience, Peel Street and Leigh Street are a fan favourite. Hole-in-the-wall bars and hidden gems are the streets’ bread and butter, bewitching wine lovers with something that feels secret and exclusive.
Jennie is the new must-see wine bar now open on the Peel Street block. Green foliage and tangerine lettering running vertically down the small bar contrast strikingly against the charcoal walls as you greet the new venue.
A wooden, oval-shaped table stretches down the length of the bar, adorned with matte black features, consistent with neighbouring stools and fixtures. The table acts as the heart of the space, complemented by a wall of wine, formed by timber shelves, potted plants, and a kaleidoscopic collection of wine bottles.
While contemporary, Jennie wine bar doesn’t lack warmth. On the contrary, three matte black pendant lights split the room in half, leaving the space in a golden-hued glow.
The space was lovingly designed by Alfred’s and Malt & Juniper alumni, Scott Taddeo, Scott Quick, Matt Holding, and Lachlan & Matt Harrison. The bar has now been thoughtfully furnished in polished concrete, matte black, and mahogany, taking inspiration from Perth favourite Wines of While and Melbourne bar The Alps.
Local designers Alex Ballas and Jess Purcell can be credited for the tangerine features and interior murals, while Sam Weckert of Tiger Build is the man behind the fit-out.
Tiger Build is the local business behind venue renovations such as the Smokelovers, 1000 Island, Sunnys, Part Time Lover, Bottega Bandito, Anchovy Bandit, and more.
The new city favourite is open from 12pm seven days a week, serving an extensive list of local and international wines, coupled with snack food such as charcuterie, anchovies, and terrines.
