FIRST LOOK: Thai Room brings mouthwatering asian-fusion cuisine to the CBD

The team behind Von Thai, Mirra Bar and Golden Rooster opened a brand new restaurant called Thai Room that’ll serve up some epic Thai goodness.

The team behind Von Thai, Mirra Bar and Golden Rooster have just opened a brand new location that’s serving up some epic Thai goodness in a beautiful, secret garden location.

With a distinct ambience and a high-end touch, Thai Room lets you dine in a pretty special setting.

Owner Kyra Wang says Thai Room brings together high quality, authentic cuisine and a stunning environment. It’s Thai flavours in a bigger space and in a bigger way.

“We had our grand opening on Friday and the feedback so far has been really positive. Our first night was completely sold out, so myself and the team are all very excited,” Kyra says.

The atmosphere is moody and romantic, and is tucked away in Victoria Square.

“The place is really creative and really romantic. We wanted to create a special place for people to escape to. It’s a secret garden, and that’s accentuated by the dark green colours on the wall” she says.

What sets Thai Room aside from the team’s other ventures is the emphasis on sharing.

“We’re creating a real emphasis on lots of small dishes so that people can try a lot of food and really get a holistic feel for the Thai food we have on offer. It’s what the cuisine is all about. So we’re leaning in to that.”

So what sort of food can you expect? Well the Lamb Shank Massaman Curry is one to watch out for, with a delicious creamy sauce.

Then there’s the highly popular Confit Duck Curry, with cherry tomatoes, eggplants, green apples, lychee and pineapple, or the succulent Pork Belly wrap.

The entrees are also dreamy, and hand-crafted by the team. There’s grilled squid with a Thai herb chilli dressing, or a grilled barramundi with chilli lemon seafood dressing.

There’s also a ‘feed me menu’ which is an an excellent way to experience a range of authentic Thai
flavours and dishes without having to decide what to order. Each option includes a variety of dishes that are carefully selected to complement each other, ensuring a balanced and satisfying meal.

It also lets you try dishes that you may not have otherwise chosen, allowing you to try new and exciting food.

If you’re worried about the Thai spice, don’t worry. The team at Thai Room will let you choose the spice level of your dish. So you can grab whatever you want, and tailor it to your palette.

“The wine list also has a massive range of local drops for you to pair with the food.” Kyra said. And she’s not joking. There’s over 99 on the list.

There’s two seperate sections to enjoy Thai Room from, one for a semi fine dinning Thai cuisine experience and the other for beverages and tapas with Thai influence. So, there will always be something appropriate for every occasion.

“I think it’s going be a very popular space for people to visit. Because we don’t close in the afternoon, it’s going to be THE spot for long lunches,” Kyra says.
