FIRST LOOK: Three Little Birds Distillery have set up their nest in Mile End

Three Little Birds Distillery are the newest kids on the block bringing a unique cellar door experience to the city-side suburb.

Serving up their small batch, handcrafted local gin, Three Little Birds Distillery are the newest kids on the block bringing a unique cellar door experience to the city-side suburb.

Along with their own gin range which you can try for tastings, the distillery serves up all day offerings with breakfast, lunch and dinner. They are fully licensed to offer a wide range of alcohol and have a scrumptious gin cocktail list to explore. While their gin is available for tastings and drinks instore, bottles will be on sale for you to take home soon too.

Co-owner Leigh said they have created a cellar door that is open all the time, offering local coffee roasters – “Dawn Patrol” and a tapas-style menu for people to come in and enjoy.

“We want people to be able to come here for a coffee on their way into work, for pizzas and tapas in the afternoon, and for tastings whenever they like,” Leigh said.

The new venue comes as Leigh and partner, Lisa-Marie’s next project after first making their own gin, with the hopes to bring their passion to the market.

“We wanted not only to create something that we were passionate about, but something that was commercially viable and pandemic-proof – people always love a drink!” says Leigh.

Three Little Birds Distillery offer a brunch menu full of your feed needs with breaky egg dishes, to salads and toasties.

The lunch menu is loaded with fresh salads and a range of burger options while the tapas menu includes tasty tapas to share from delicious corn ribs, to charcuterie boards and cheese platters.

Wood oven pizzas are on offer from 5pm Thursday to Saturday, including traditional offerings such as margherita, funghi and salumi with daily specials for guests to try too.

The pizza and tapas are perfect for grazing while paired with their star range of gins that you can try in their tasting room.

For $20, the tastings treat you to all three of Three Little Birds Distillery gins which include their signature gin, navy gin, and bramble gin.

Described as quintessentially Australian in flavour, Three Little Birds gins differs from a dry London gin, offering a more floral taste with delicious flavours of juniper coriander and vanilla, as well as native Australian ingredients such as lemon myrtle and strawberry gum.

The gins are served with tonics and mixers from strange love in Byron Bay

To make use of the ideal location just down the road from the city centre, Leigh said they have big plans for the future. He plans to make use of the neighbouring carpark for a market and music events.

“We want to showcase the suburb coming to life as a Mile End booze trail,” Leigh said.

Three Little Birds is located at 1/2 34 Henley Beach Rd, Mile End SA.
