From food truck to restaurant, Wok the Duck is planting their roots in Mount Barker as they prepare to open the doors to a swanky permanent location this September.
“We look forward to bringing the Adelaide Hills a new dining experience like no other, supporting local businesses, and employing local youth, as much as we can all the way, we shall always evolve and strive to create a relaxed and memorable experience for all our patrons,” shared owner David in a FaceBook post.
Wok the Duck is bringing Thai-fusion cooking to the hills, with plans to be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with coffee and takeaway options as well.
The new venture is brought to you by chef and owner, David Keir, as he teams up with his daughter Ebony, to prepare the final touches on their brand-new venture. The restaurant is a dream turned reality for the family, after years in the industry owning restaurants and working collaboratively with renowned celebrity chefs and entrepreneurs, Wok the Duck marks a new beginning.
The new Wok the Duck will be occupying the stunning location that once was home to the cafe, Susa Kitchen. The interior design boasts elegance and sophistication, with illuminated arches housing inviting booths, ideal for intimate dining.
“We really appreciate the ladies from Susa to allow us to have the opportunity with this space in which they successfully created and operated their popular brand. (We shall be visiting Lady Luck on our days off),” shared David.
As for the food, David has been working on the menu for months, transforming some favourites from the old mobile kitchen, and whipping up some new delights for the restaurant.
David completed his Thai training with Chef Nu of Lantern by Nu in 2019, and will continue to apply the skills he learnt from Chef Nu to create the ultimate fusion of flavours at Wok the Duck.
“We’re creating a monster, Mt Barker won’t know what hit them,” David shared with Glam Adelaide.
The new Wok the Duck promises to be a must-visit destination for coffee enthusiasts, food lovers, and anyone in search of an enchanting dining experience in Mount Barker.
