First Moonshine Bar Headed To Adelaide

Moonshine is the next big thing! Here’s where you’re going to be able to get the full experience.

Long gone are the days of illegal booze – can I get an Amen?

Now brace yourselves because we’re throwing it back to the Prohibition era and getting our first pop-up Moonshine bar at the East End Social Vogue Festival Wrap Party.

It’ll be a speakeasy-style bar in the heart of Vardon Avenue where you can sample different types of Melbourne Moonshine and order Bootleg Lemonade, Moonshine cocktails like Apple Strudel and Espresso Martini (made with moonshine of course). Don’t worry, it won’t be anywhere near as potent at the XXX moonshine you’re probably thinking of.

The closest thing we could liken this spirit to is probably a white whisky or white bourbon, if you can imagine that. You can drink the shine on ice (pfft… you badass), with a mixer or put it in cocktails, which is what The Man of Spirit, Mark Reginato, will be doing at the Wrap Party. It’s essentially a great alternative to your whisky and bourbon drinks. But it’s really something you need to try firsthand to get the full experience whether you like brown liquor or not – and who better to introduce you than Reginato. Anything he touches turns to gold.

Melbourne Moonshine is made with 100% organic corn which is distilled twice and then slightly filtered. This produces a clear liquor that has a slight agave taste to it, as Reginato describes it as similar to tequila – but we’re yet to taste a sweet tequila, so we’ll let you know. Melbourne Moonshine in particular comes in four flavours: original, apple pie, sweet tea and a cask shine which described as having a rich, vanilla flavour.

After watching the Man of Spirit do his thing at the Vogue Fashion Festival Wrap Party, taste testing your way through the collection and have a string of recipe ideas, you can go pick up a bottle from East End Cellars.
