Book worms of Adelaide, Writers’ Week is coming and there’s a huge lineup of authors, guests and new initiatives in store for 2019.

Running March 2-7 as part of the 2019 Adelaide Festival, Adelaide Writers’ Week will include six days of free open air readings, panel sessions, and literary conversations, with a mix of free and ticketed events. It will kick off with the inaugural opening address on February 28, which will be delivered by Man Booker Prize-winning author, Ben Okri.

Fifty local and international authors have been confirmed for the program to date, including Markus Zusak (The Book Thief), Esi Edugyan (Washington Black), Paul Bloom (Against Empathy: A Case for Rational Compassion), Chloe Hooper (The Tall Man: Death and Life on Palm Island), Anuradha Roy (All the Lives We Never Lived), Leslie Jamison (Recovering: Intoxication and Its Aftermath), Mohammed Hanif (A Case of Exploding Mangoes), Germaine Greer (The Female Eunuch).

And if you live outside of Adelaide and can’t make it down to the city for the Week, a new initiative will see selected sessions live streamed to schools, libraries and retirement villages around South Australia to ensure as many members of the community have access to the event as possible.

The full program will be announced on January 29, 2019. For more information visit adelaidefestival.com.au/writers-week.
