Enjoying a delicious local sourdough pizza in your own home is about to get a whole lot easier with the launch of the first sourdough pizzas in SA supermarkets using 100% South Australian producers.
The pizzas which are the only sourdough ready pizza available in supermarkets is produced by South Australian authentic Italian ‘at-home’ food and coffee brand, Cucina Classica.
Putting a local spin on supermarket pizzas, the offering has been curated to showcase local producers. It’s made from Cucina Classica’s signature 160-year-old mother sourdough which is fermented for 48 hours.
The Great South Aussie pizza range is made using local producers Lauke (flour), Barossa Fine Foods (ham), La Casa Del Formaggio (cheese) and Penfold Olives (olives).
The pizzas are also made with locals Marino Meats (salami), SA Mushrooms (mushrooms), Raw Nation (spinach) and Cucina Classica (sourdough and Aussie tomato sugo).
Cucina Classica Managing Director Roberto Cardone said the South Aussie focus is in line with their values in supporting local businesses.
“Cucina Classica is passionate about producing food that showcases South Australia by using as much local ingredients as possible,” Roberto said.
“This pizza pays homage to our great state and its producers.
“We have created a first of its kind ready-made sourdough pizza and are excited to be bringing the Great South Aussie pizza into homes across the state.”
The Cucina Classica new sourdough pizza range includes four options. There’s Originale sourdough pizza, Spicy and Sweet Salami sourdough pizza and the Spinaci sourdough pizza as well as Sourdough pizza bases.
Whether you want to try their pizzas ready to go straight in the oven or you’re keen to pop on your own toppings, there’s options to suit all.
The range is available in Coles this week and in other South Australian supermarkets from December 1.
