Ok, just give us a second as we deal with the fact that it is 2016 (eeeek). Right. Now that is done, let’s get to the point. This year will be bringing with it a plethora of fabulous, eclectic, amazing events and we thought it only right that we start getting excited about these events. But in particular those involving wine. Hey, you know you love it as much as we do!
So for the love of wine, here are the six events that you don’t want to miss when they hit this year:
Wine and Food Tour of Spain
Yes. That says Spain. We are super lucky here in South Australia, to be surrounded by some of the best wine regions in the world. But if you want to experience something a little different, then this may be the wine tour for you. Not only is your tour guide Darryl Catlin, the Chief Winemaker at Sidewood Estate and Catlin Wines, but just imagine Spanish wine, stunning vineyards, beautiful cities, 4-5 star hotels, Michelin Star restaurants, and all of the tapas! Sounds like heaven to us. Find out more about this dreamy holiday/wine tour here.
Crush Festival 2016
A bus, friends, food, fun, music and, of course, lots of wine. Crush Festival is unmissable every year and 2016 will be no exception. The ultimate wine lover’s weekend includes 41 wineries, 43 cellar door events, 12 exclusive ticketed events and a whole lot of fun! We have checked out the 2016 Program and lets just say WOW. We have our eye on basically everything but one of the standouts is Bar à Vin. ArtWine will be transformed into a European wine bar where you can enjoy wines by the glass and tasty canapés. Basically the perfect combination. The real clincher though, is that you get all of that plus an absolutely spectacular view of the vines and the sunset. Magic. Find out more here.
‘Modern Masters’ Champagne Dinner
Well this event sounds just divine. Kyla Kirkpatrick, the Champagne Dame, will be making her debut appearance in Adelaide when Lexus hosts this stunning dinner. She will share her stories of five champagnes from the winemakers of the moment. But those bubbles will also be sublimely matched with a dish presented by the Chefs from Pranzo. Sounds delish! Find out more here.
Cellar Door Fest 2016
For those who love their wine but can’t always be bothered, or don’t have the time to put in the effort to head for the hills to get to some of the cellar doors, then this is your Festival! In 2016 there is a new look Cellar Door Fest hitting the Adelaide Convention Centre and it sounds awesome! Basically you will have access to over 150 of South Australia’s best wineries, breweries and food producers and you won’t even need to leave the CBD. Perfect. Find out more here.
National Wine Centre – Uncorked with The Lane Vineyard
It only seems right that the firs Uncorked event for the year is absolutely out of this world. When The Lane Vineyard is involved it can only mean good things. And by good things we mean delicious wine… Happening on Friday 22 January, this free (yes FREE) event starts at 4.30pm and will provide the perfect post work chill out session. Enjoy glasses by the wine, bottle or even dabble in a tasting flight. Plus there are complimentary cheese platters. Oh hell yeah! If you are more than just a little peckish you can enjoy a meal from the Uncorked tapas menu at a small cost. Worth it we say! What could be better than the end of a working week, cheese, The Lane wines and some tasty tapas? Not much, that’s what! Find out more here.
Electra House – Wine Dinners
We want to dine at their house. After our experience at their Torbreck Wine Dinner a few months ago, we decided that whenever Electra House has a wine dinner, we will be there. Why? Because it was that damn good! Besides the fact that Electra House is a total babe, there is something really special about experiencing stunning food paired with cracking wine. And the all encompassing food and wine experience also means that you get to hear from, speak with and ask questions of the winemaker of the wine that you are drinking/enjoying immensely. Read more about our experience here. Keep your eye out in 2016 because this House has promised to deliver more amazing wine dinners.
