Fleurieu Beer Festival to be largest regional celebration of local craft beer

The one-day festival will present an expanded line-up of ten local breweries and a smorgasbord of fun-filled entertainment, live music and food.

Willunga, South Australia will host the largest regional celebration of local craft beer with the return of the popular Fleurieu Beer Festival on Saturday 23 January 2021.

Following on from the sell-out success of its inaugural event, the one-day festival will present an expanded line-up of ten local breweries and a smorgasbord of fun-filled entertainment, live music and food.

Confirmed breweries for the 2021 festival are: South Coast Brewing Co, Shifty Lizard Brewing Co, Swell Brewing Co, Goodieson Brewery, Smiling Samoyed, Victor’s Place, Mephisto Brewing Co, Forktree Brewing and Moana Brewing.

“This festival is testament to the talent and quality of beverages produced on our doorstep, as well as an opportunity to raise funds for our local community,” said Festival Coordinator Heather Williams.

“Adelaide’s south has seen an explosion in craft beer. We have already built a strong community, and the expanded line-up makes this the largest regional showcase of its kind in our state.”

For local brewer and co-founder of Willunga’s Shifty Lizard Brewing Co, Lee Stone the event will signal the chance for the craft beer community to unite after a challenging 2020.

“It’s no secret that 2020 has been tough for our industry, said Stone.

“To kickstart the new year with a local celebration is something that our industry and craft beer enthusiasts desperately need.”

The festival’s entertainment program will also showcase music from local songstress Laura Hill, songwriter Ollie English and other favourites including acoustic musician Anthony McCann.

Festival goers will also be able to enjoy local food and market offerings, with wine and cider lovers catered for with the inclusion of Zontes Footsteps and McCarthy’s Orchard.

“This festival has something for everyone. We pack a lot into one day. We have worked hard to create an an environment that is well spaced, safe and fun for all ages,” Williams said.

“Due to the limited capacity, tickets will only be available to be pre-purchased online. We’ve been inundated with interest already and anticipate the event to sell-out quickly”.

The Fleurieu Beer Festival promotes the responsible consumption of alcohol.

A range of Adelaide Metro public transport options, including festival shuttle buses will be available to festival goers.

On site camping is also available on Willunga Oval and patrons are encouraged to bring a swag.

The festival is open to all ages, with ID required for the consumption of alcohol. The event has a strictly no BYO policy.
