August sees the return of the Fleurieu Food Festival for the third consecutive year, featuring over 50 culinary events across the Fleurieu Peninsula. The month-long celebration will draw food enthusiasts from all corners to explore the rich gastronomic landscape of the area.

The festival is curated by Fleurieu Food and includes an array of activities such as masterclasses, tastings, and gourmet feasts, all aimed at highlighting the region’s premier food and beverage producers.

Local businesses, ranging from cafes and restaurants to wineries and farms, are presenting a range of premium experiences. Notable events include Candyland – The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party where Chef Connor Bishop will focus on presenting a range of indulgent desserts at Bec Hardy wines (which always sells out), and a farm tour at Ashley Park, demonstrating the benefits of regenerative agriculture.

One standout occasion is the Winter Glitter Ball hosted at Ekhidna Wines, featuring live performances by Funk Fusion. The event will also serve a charitable cause, with proceeds going towards the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Todd Steele, Chair of the Fleurieu Food Festival Board, shared his pride in the region’s offerings. “With a range of wineries, breweries, farms and producers, the Fleurieu Peninsula is one of the best regions in the country for food and wine,” he stated. He encouraged people to head along to multiple events to fully experience what the region has to offer.

In addition to the range of events mentioned above, the festival lineup also includes a Winter Cooking Masterclass specifically tailored for cheese lovers, a cultural journey with a Mississippi Blues Cabaret, and the Plated Provenance Long Lunch at Peninsula Providore which focuses on locally sourced ingredients. Attendees can also experience a unique Fiano & Fondue Fusion event, combining local wines with rich, warm fondue.

The Fleurieu Food Festival promotes local gastronomy while also enhancing the cultural and economic vitality of the region. It offers an opportunity for producers to showcase their products and for visitors to immerse themselves in local flavours and techniques.

The complete program for this year’s event is now available on the Fleurieu Food Festival website.
