Flickerfest Returns to Adelaide

Australia’s premiere short-film festival Flickerfests, comes to Adelaide with a feast of shorts from home and abroad.

Flickerfest is on its way to Adelaide Saturday 11th May with seven stunning South Australian Films screening alongside festival award winners and favourites across two programmes of Best Of Australian and International shorts. Celebrating 33 years in 2024 Flickerfest remains Australia’s leading Academy® Qualifying and BAFTA Recognised short film festival.

On Saturday 11th May 6pm, enjoy an incredible collection of Australian stories with the Best of Australian Shorts programme. Highlights include seven stunning local South Australian short films. Highlights include: Sick Day, following a 10 year old day whose day at home changes his view of the world, by writer/director Stephen Packer; the moving and visually stunning Cordelia, Daughter Of The Sea by Maddie Grammatopoulos, where a father delivers a wedding speech to his only offspring on her wedding day; the thrilling and amusing short Spite from talented directors Madeline Gordon and Paul Gallasch, about a young women who goes out of her way to take revenge on her uncaring boyfriend with surprising consequences; and friendship drama Human Range that takes us to the reunion of a group of friends who in a previous life were all members of a punk musician group, from filmmaker Morgan Wright.

Meet the South Australian filmmakers when they intro their films at the start of the Australian shorts programme; & enjoy a complimentary drink between sessions.

At 9pm,the Best of International Shorts programme shines a spotlight on masterful international short film stories and talent. Enjoying their Australian premieres are the bittersweet UK drama My Week With Maisy starring legend of stage and screen Joanna Lumley, the stunning Himalayan Last Days of Summer where a recurring mysterious sound from mountains is heard only by two curious young shepherds and intriguing Spanish film The Masterpiece  

Flickerfest takes place on Saturday 11th May, 6pm & 9pm at The Mercury Cinema. Ticket includes a complimentary drink.
