Kangaroo Island

Flights to Kangaroo Island surge by 50% in 2025

Qantas have announced an increase in the amount of flights to KI in 2025.

It’s been over a decade since I last visited Kangaroo Island, and in the last few years, I’ve been eagerly looking forward to booking a weekend off and making the trip over. Filled with natural beauty, wildlife, and adventure, the landscapes on KI are stunning, and the experiences are well worth the trip.

Well there’s fantastic news for anyone currently hoping to visit Kangaroo Island next year, particularly during a quieter part of the year. Qantas have recently announced an increase in flights to KI throughout Autumn, Winter, and Spring in 2025.

Between April and October 2025, Qantas Link will be increasing the number of flights between Adelaide and Kingscote. Growing from six to nine services per week, it’s a great opportunity for travellers to discover beautiful KI during the traditional off-peak season when things are a little less busy over the water.

Kangaroo Island will also welcome the larger Dash-8 Q400 aircraft from February 2025. This increased frequency, coupled with more seats made possible by the Q400, will boost capacity to KI over this period by 48% year on year.

More travellers coming into KI – recognised as the second-best region in the world in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2024 guide – will inject a boost to the local economy in the cooler months of the quiet season.

So if you’ve been looking for a worthy excuse to get down to the second-best region in the world, located a short flight from Adelaide, book a ticket to Kangaroo Island between April and October 2025.
