As one of the only festivals to go ahead in the world in 2020, Folkloria is making a triumphant return in 2021, bringing world-class folk music to South Australia’s stunning McLaren Vale.

For a firmly non-spooky alternative to your Halloween plans, the festival which celebrates all things folk, blues and roots music, will take place on Sunday 31 October, at Simon Hackett Winery.

Tickets are on sale from Thursday 26 August at 9am for $48, with the event promising not only epic local musicians such as Roger and the Albatross, Kaurna Cronin and Jimmybay, but local food trucks serving up incredible eats, as well as the chance to bring your own food and enjoy a spread on a picnic rug.

After a welcome to country given by Allan Sumner, the festival is also offering a new ticketing option to introduce the next generation into live folk music, with kids free for a two hour period from 6pm – 8pm. The cost for a two hour adult ticket is $20.

One of the festival’s headline acts, Roger and the Albatross’, even won Best Music Act at this year’s Adelaide Fringe, meaning guests are in for some thigh-slapping folk tunes to entertain them throughout the al fresco event.

In order to adhere to current COVID restrictions tickets are currently limited to 750 guests, with tickets slated to sell out fast.

For those looking for transport to and from Folkloria, last year a handy return bus service was offered for guests, who were transported from the Gilbert Street Hotel to the winery and back, negating any need for designated drivers, and meaning all can enjoy the incredible wines on offer at Simon Hackett.

The bus service has been confirmed to return this year but will be collecting and dropping off guests from The Cumberland Arms at a cost of $30pp.

The festival has been dreamed up by the creative team behind Moon Dance, and will give South Aussies a chance to welcome in the warmer spring weather, spread out across the picturesque lawns of the Simon Hacket Winery, who will be providing boozy refreshments throughout the day.
