The Adelaide Motorsport Festival is back on track!

The popular event has been scheduled to return this November, bringing Formula One cars back to the streets of Adelaide for the first time since 2018.

The Festival has not run in recent years following the withdrawal of funding from the state government of the time, and is set for a welcome return in 2022 as part of a suite of motorsport related election promises from the new Labor government.

The Adelaide Motorsport Festival features high-octane action on a section of the original Adelaide F1 street circuit in the park lands, with a focus on Formula One cars of the Adelaide era, along with historic and modern race categories and unique demonstration events.

Off the track, the Festival has a picnic races feel, with open pit areas giving crowds incredible close access to the cars and drivers. Food and drink from local producers, static car and motorcycle displays, kids’ activities and VIP hospitality zones add to the festive feel.

Popular elements returning include the Peak Hour of Power, a potent parade of rare, exotic and desirable vehicles through the Friday evening city traffic that culminates in the Gouger Street Party, one of several free community events associated with the Festival.

Two new night events have been added to the calendar. High Beam brings top live music acts to the stage to close out the event on the Sunday night, while the track lights up on the Saturday night for the Sundown Throwdown, featuring on-track action and a gathering of modified vehicles and hot rods, with street food and DJs providing a party atmosphere.

The Festival includes the Shannons Adelaide Rally, which was the largest event of its kind in the world in 2021.

“We’re delighted to have the chance to bring the Adelaide Motorsport Festival back for South Australians,” says Event Director Tim Possingham. “Adelaide has an unmatched pedigree in motorsport and we’re excited about celebrating that once again in the heart of the city.

“AMF was a fast-growing event that had gathered international attention and a strong local following and we’ll be building on that in the coming years, starting this November. We’ve been overwhelmed by the support we’ve received from the community and we’re already hard at work to bring them something special.”

The Adelaide Motorsport Festival is scheduled to run from November 23 – 27.
